Dr. Richard K. Gaines is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Florida native raised in Daytona Beach. Dr. Gaines has special interests in arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the knee and shoulder, as well as procedures of the hip, including total hip joint replacement surgery. Dr. Gaines has been practicing in Volusia County since 1992, and joined The Orthopedic Clinic in 2015. Dr. Gaines is passionate about serving the Daytona Beach community he grew up in. His orthopedic expertise has led to his involvement with several local sports teams, including Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, the Daytona Cubs professional baseball team, and several high schools. Dr. Gaines is also the Clinical Instructor for the Florida State College of Medicine.

Great visit, great nurses great office help

Weet in to find what was causing me pain and limited movement in my left shoulder. After X-ray he showed me a bone spur that was causing the problem. We decided schedule a cortisone shot to see what relief that would give me.

This doctor did not seem to care about me. Seemed like he had one foot out the door when he came in to see me. Didn't even talk about all the findings on my MRI. After he very painfully removed fluid from my knee, and didn't even allow the area to get numb, he gave me a cortisone shot and told me to go to physical therapy because surgery was not in my best interest. After my third physical therapy appointment, I couldn't walk again. I went to another doctor and got a second opinion and that Ortho doctor actually discovered I also had a fracture in my knee and physical therapy was not in my best interest. Thank goodness I have a new caring doctor who actually listened to me and cared and found another problem that I had by enlarging my MRI.

I find Dr. Gaines is very competent and through! He listen to my information and gave me relief for my condition! I feel his knowledge and ability to diagnose my problem! I confident he will be able to help me recover!

From the moment I walked in and met the young lady at the front counter everyone was professional and even had a great sense of humor including the x-ray tech, medical assistant and Dr. Thank you once again for the hospitality.
