Dr. Richard Harold Haas, MD

I am extremely disappointed with Dr. Haas. My child was admitted with a known diagnosis from (in his own words) one of the best hospitals in the country for this disease, confirmed by multiple other Physicians we have seen from across the country. For some reason, Dr. Haas dismissed the prior diagnosis within minutes of seeing my child and wanted to perform his own tests to confirm a suspected new diagnosis. He did not look at the mound of medical records we have compiled over the last six years, and informed us that he would diagnose her properly because "it's what I do." He scoffed in nearly the same breath after being verbally told about the diagnosis from the other prominent hospital after looking at my child for about 10 seconds. Every single test that we have already had has been repeated over the course of four days to ultimately conclude that he now agrees with the original diagnosis from the other hospital. He did not help us with the symptoms we originally arrived in… the hospital to acquire treatment for. Our child left in worse condition than we originally arrived in. Do not expect ego to be placed aside for any amount of time to accept medical records/test results from anywhere else or for collaboration with Physicians outside of UCSD to move forward in hopes to determine the best treatment.
