Dr. Richard Jeremy James, MD

I waited an hour in the waiting room and was never seen. I decided that that was all I needed to know about the level of care he brings to his patients. He couldn’t have been bothered to at least sent a message that he was running late. Do yourself a favor and go to ANY OTHER OBGYN. I’ll be telling my friends the same.

7 years ago I walked into Dr James office with horrible back pain at 32 weeks pregnant. He came in and was so kind but firm that I needed to go to the hospital. He explained to me that I should not stop anywhere on the way. My blood pressure was very elevated. Two days later while still being induced and pushing he rushed me back for an emergency c section. My baby had the cord wrapped around his neck twice. He is very knowledgeable and he saved me and my sons life that week. I saw him again for my second pregnancy as well. Although he didn’t deliver me he gave me excellent care.

Dr. James is an excellent doctor. He is very knowledgeable, and he answered all of my questions thoroughly but also in a way I could easily understand. He spent plenty of time with me, and made sure he didn’t end my appointment until all of my questions were answered. He was kind and compassionate during a difficult time for me, and he has an excellent bedside manner. I highly recommend Dr. James.

Dr. James is beyond an amazing doctor. He was there for us during an extremely difficult and high risk pregnancy that was successful and another pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage. It's one thing to find a smart doctor who knows his specialty, it's a whole different ball game when you can find a doctor who is amazing at his speciality AND knows how to deal with a patient mentally and emotionally. Through many difficult days when I was inpatient, he was a shoulder to cry on. Always making me feel like he cared about, not only my situation, but me as a human being. having a doctor you can trust is priceless! When others would throw statistics at us constantly at our twins' survival rate, he would come in being honest but also being positive that things were looking good " right now". Which was so good to hear something positive, even though we all knew while things were good right now, they might not be tomorrow. His work on my c-section was also great! Small, thin, and low incision… which is easily covered by underwear and recovery went great. I also dealt with PPD and he was there for me then as well. He was there for me and listened as long as I wanted to talk, and help me find ways to get better. Unfortunately, since then we've moved across country... But when you go through a difficult time with someone, you never will forget them. We are forever thankful for him!

Terrible experience. I waited 2 weeks to see him, once in the office I waited for almost 45 minutes with 2 small kids. The nurses were very rude, no one even offered to hold the door for me to maneuver the double stroller. The only nurse that was nice was training that day (Arboretum location) I saw the Dr for maybe 10 minutes. He told me I was not pregnant and had to take hormones to restart my cycle. I insisted to have a blood exam to confirm, with this test he confirmed I was not and insisted on the hormones after I explained to him I didn't want to take any hormone. At the end, I decided to wait and not take the hormones and sure enough I'm 7 weeks pregnant. When I saw another Dr he couldn't understand how looking at my blood work he missed that I was early but in fact pregnant. That means in my brain that he didn't even look at my results and was happy with the urine test that was negative (I took one at home, of course it was negative too, that is why I asked for blood work… because as a mother of 2, I can tell when I'm pregnant)

Dr. James was the dr on call when I was in labor with my son at CMC Main. After several hours of labor and fully dilated the nurse broke my water and suddenly the baby was in distress. The cord was wrapped multiple times around his neck. Dr James climbed on the bed holding my son in while they moved me to the operating room. An emergency c-section was performed so quickly that my son is perfectly healthy. I know Dr Deal saved my son. He is our hero. As a result, I switched OBGYNs and I am so glad I did. He really listens and gives me time. He does not rush you out. As a parent himself, he even offered advice when my son had colic. Before moving here, I had always preferred female OBGYNs because they can understand what we are going thru; however, Dr. Deal is very understanding. He has proven to me that male OBGYNS can be just as valuable as their female counterparts.

I would recommend Dr. James to anyone. I saw him frequently during both pregnancies with my sons and almost exclusively at the end of my 2nd. He delivered my second son. I was extremely anxious during my pregnancy with my first son, as I had a miscarraige a few months previously. Dr. James was always patient and understanding and did whatever he could to make me feel more comfortable about my pregnancy. He takes plenty of time during visits and answers all questions thoroughly. He was very attentive during my labor & delivery. There are several excellent doctors in this practice, but Dr. James is definitely my preferred OB.
