Dr. Richard Lee Liston, MD

I have been a paitent of Dr. Liston for many years, he is widely considered the best in the Dayton area. I recommend him to any one with eye issues.

Despite the other reviews, Dr Liston has been nothing but kind and willing to answer any questions I have, often describing the answer in multiple ways to be sure I understood. It does take several hours from the time of check in until you leave, so do bring snacks and a plan to have a baby sitter for other kids. This will probably be the last time we see him b/c I dont have this much time to wait to get her eyes checked twice a year.

We have gone to several appointments for my toddler. Every time we go to an appointment we wait a solid 1 to 1 1/2 hours. The majority of the staff is always rude, unhelpful and can’t retain information correctly. They’ve had my address wrong and had no clue who are pediatricians office was even though I clearly wrote down on paperwork for them. When you finally see Dr. Liston be prepared for a rude, cocky jerk. He will spend 10 minutes with you and then acts like “how dare you ask me questions” even though you’ve waited a ridiculous amount of time to see him. Obviously he thinks your time is not valuable and even though you contribute to his paycheck he treats you like your below him! Don’t even go here!

Setting up an eye appointment with a new doctor for your son. Then them telling you a week later that they refuse to see him due to who is old doctor was. "Sorry for the mistake but we will have to cancel you. The old receptionist should've told you that Dr. Liston does not see former patients of Dr. Bloom. He's tired of fixing his mistakes." Yes, this just happened. Here my poor son is having bad headaches and needed to see his new doctor and the new one says, "oops you can't come here." Absolutely ridiculous and highly unprofessional. Way to help those who you need your help.

Dr. Liston saw our baby to evaluate him for a congenital disorder. He had lenses to check his eyesight and was very kind to us.

Seriously... A 40 minute wait to be seen. 10 minute visit with the doc. then a 74 minute wait for him to return ? Ridiculous. He may be knowledge, but your small symptoms will grow into bigger issues by the time your visit is over ! Avoid this Dr.

To get an appointment, one has to wait about 5 months because that is how far he is booked. When I arrive with my child, we typically have to wait 45 min to an hour to see Dr. Liston. He does not appreciate questions, and is short when answering. He always makes me feel as if I'm wrong for questioning him, and as if I'm bothering him. His staff seems nice enough, but makes us wait a long time when we want to check in or check out. During our last visit, we were already in the office for over an hour when Dr. Liston said he wanted to diolate my daughter's eyes. That would have meant we would be there another 45 min to an hour. We did not have that amount of time on that particular day. When I told him we'd have to reschedule, he gestured as if he was put off by the fact that we did not have all day to sit in his office. This particular appointment was at the Englewood office. If we were at the Beavercreek office, we would have had to wait longer. There are only 3 doctors in… this field in this area. We've tried two and have been with Dr. Liston for about 4 years - always treated with the same disrespect. I'm making an appointment with another doctor today. We need more choices in the Dayton area.

I saw Dr. Liston many years ago and thought he was the best. Just took my elderly father to him for a second opinion and he was absolutely rude to question what we wanted. He acted disgusted that we would waste his time! He said he was not going to fix other doctors mistakes! Must have told us to go back to the doctor we came from five times! When I said I just wanted my dad to be able to see, he replied that he COULD see...he walked in there, didn't he!! To think of all the people I have referred to him thinking he was the best. Was I ever wrong. My gentle father did NOT deserve that kind of treatment(abuse)!

Dr. Liston is a very knowledgeable doctor, however, I am honestly looking for a different doctor after numerous horrible appointments. The office staff is incredibly rude and think nothing of keeping you waiting for 10 or 15 minutes with no acknowledgement that you are even standing there waiting to leave. Dr. Liston is perpetually late, regardless of the time of the appointment. After approximately 12 visits over three years, there has only been one instance where I have waited less than an hour to see him, even when the appointment is at 7:30 am. The last time my appointment was at 7:30, Dr. Liston arrived--at the office--at 7:30, and then had to see the other three patients that he had scheduled earlier. To me, that is the height of arrogance. His time is no more important than mine is and I am quite honestly sick and tired of it. Most doctors have taken steps to improve the time that patients have to wait. Dr. Liston has gone the other direction. He is a good doctor, but… be prepared to be frustrated, ignored, and late to whatever you had scheduled after your appointment.

Routine eye follow-ups always take 1&1/2 hour +. This is way too long for a child to wait. We spend maybe 2 minutes with Dr. Liston. Once he actually was walking out the door when I was trying to ask a final question and to top it off the lens precription was written incorrectly. I caught it by looking at an old one. If you need to reschedule it will be 4 months out.
