Dr. Richard Allen Lytle JR., MD

Here about a year ago my friend went to see Dr lytle for an issue I f L4 and L5 where the nerve that comes out for the sciatica. He had already been another doctor in Hendersonville NC and did not fix his problem. Dr Lytle is great surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone that is in need of a neurosurgeon. He helped him.

Little fast and not very thorough. Waited a long time. Not sure if he would be good for aneurysm surgery.......

Dr Lytle is an exceptional surgeon and a wonderful person. I give him the highest rating possible.

Poor on every level...Appropriate testing not ordered nor an examination of any kind. Stared 20 min without blinking....Then not even referencing my report of event in scanty notes. He fit me into his lunch hour and it showed in his performance of non-professionalism. He remarked I was not in pain because I had no signs of depression. My outcome was serious nerve injuries lasting many years.

i do not beleive this man knows what h is talking about went in to have a tumor removed now cant move left side first had a siezure turned out it was a stroke nobodycan explain what happen i will never let him operate on me again

Had MRI because of having extreme back pain - could not get anyone to call me back to give me results and also, during a visit I advised Dr. Leep (PA) of my pain and I was totally brushed off. He asked me to go without brace all of the time and to ramp down from my medication which was the only way life was bearable not good patient service if you ask me - period!

As far as the visit to Dr. Lytle's office and the surgery that he preformed on my father's back, everything went well. Dr. Lytle's follow up on my dad in the hospital was not acceptable. After his conservation with us after the surgery, we had no more contact with him, except for his visit at 6am the morning following the surgery. Dr. Lytle's PA was aware of the fact that my dad had not had a bowell movement since the day of the surgery, Wed., when he made his rounds on Sunday morning, because he left instructions for the nurses to administer laxatives The nursing staff did a poor job of this, but released him any way. Dr. Lytle should have done a better job of following up on this, because 2 days he was readmitted with complications from not having a bowel movement.

I was injured in a car accident. Dr. Lytle examined me, reviewed my MRI and informed me I needed Surgery. He sent me home with the pre-op bag w/ sponges and verbally instructed me on how to scrub down the morning of surgery. He scheduled me for a pre-op visit and surgery the next week. His financial personnel contacted me and explained the surgery would be $23,000. I explained I didn't have health insurance at this time and the injury was caused by another driver, who's insurance would pay after surgery. My attorney tried to set up a lien on the settlement. His office said I needed to pay cash. I informed them that I needed to reschedule as I would need time to try to come up with that much cash. I tried to borrow but my family did not have that type of money available. My family doctor suggested I file for Medicaid. I applied and was approved (because my medical bills were 3 times my household income). I contacted his office and told them I was approved by Medicaid and would like to… get it taken care of asap, as I am in severe pain. They informed me that they do not accept Medicaid. I tried to find another Neurosurgeon to do the surgery. I found out that Dr. Lytle is the only Neurosurgeon who does this type of surgery in my area. (Charlotte was the next closest one) and medicaid only covers me in Buncombe County. Medicaid expired after 3 months doing me no good. My attorney set up mediation with the insurance company representing the man who caused the accident to try to expedite the surgery. The insurance Co. requested a deposition with Dr. Lytle. My attorney contacted his office and requested the deposition. He refused to do the deposition and said that he had dropped me as a patient because I didn't show for my pre-op appointment. (I told them I didn't have the cash and couldn't pay for the surgery, I needed more time)I pray Dr. Lytle that you nor anyone you know is ever in severe pain for 15 months and in lack of cash. I am Grateful and Thankful to God every day that I am the one in pain and not my son who was in the passenger seat the day of the accident.
