please just look at these reviews.... any positive comments are from pre-2015. LOL!

he was the assigned doctor to my mom in the DC area for her neuro issues. he told me he was "so busy today!", like how does that even matter to me?... bro, just help my dear Momma. he said he would be right back, and then I waited at her bedside, and waited ... and waited .... hours went by, and only then a nurse came in several hours later and said "visitation times are over", you best believe i was SHOCKED!!! This dude left, had me waiting all day, and slides home?? I don't care if he IS the ceo of THAT company (cheapest healthplan you can buy, by the way, figures) or the EARTH. he left my dearest momma stroked out, and ruined my whole situation, bc I had a job interview that day too!! no apologies, just a shrug from a tired nurse who wanted to be there even less than I did. I guess he had "better things to do" than help common folk like us.

Barely even acknowledged the pains and burnings in my feet. He kept checking his phone while listening to me. Most horrid is that his nurses were laughing behind my back bc my blood sugars were so high. I need to stop seeing these Kaiser Permanent-ay doctors - they appear rushed THE WHOLE TIMES, and it takes months to get a schedule visit, and then you feel like a dumbo when you get this kind of doggone care

Many Neurologists seem to take notes and try you on many medications...even when you find a good one and perhaps change Doctors, I find they all want you to try the newest thing which ultimately makes you feel like a Lab Rat. Dr. McCarthy was very good in clarifying my situation over the years down to me taking one test which would reveal Genetic or not. This was something no one had done, though I had done the same tests many years over my life. It's all been in the notes of my file but he was actually able to give me an up to date status of what my test results mean~with what we know now. Greatness is the Dr. who never stops learning. I appreciated the short amount of time he was in Terra Linda Kaiser. He was a game changer in Neurology...Doctors I still meet today recall of him as fondly as I do. I'm very surprised and wary of these bad reviews online.

I have the unfortuante Kaiser HMO which this Dr. is with. I went to him for a second opinion. He did review my charts. That's a plus. At the end of consult he said I did not have the condition which another Kaiser neuro said I had. I have had 4-5 emails with McCarthy to get him to answer the basic question as to WHY-as in what made him decide WHY I do not have this condition. His only response is "it is my opinion you do not have &%". He will also not give me a referral to Johns Hopkins for a more definitive diagnosis of my condition. What a waste of time it was to see him and for my husband to take off a day of work to drive me to DC.

Dr. McCarthy was the best neurologist I've ever had.I was so sad when he left Kaiser San Rafael, although I envy his current patients!
