Dr. Richard Allan Silva, MD

Dr. Silva successfully performed a procedure to declot my dad's graft when other doctors had either failed or refused. He is a top doctor not only because of his medical skills and knowledge, but also his kindness, his willingness to listen to patients and prioritize their well-being, and his dedication to going the extra mile to provide the best care. We are so grateful for his care. Dr. Silva, you are the best!

Dr. Silva has been my favorite doctor and I couldn’t imagine going to anyone else for all of the issues I’ve dealt with the past 13 months. I met him right before emergency surgery and he put me at ease and explained everything that was happening. Since that surgery, I’ve had two other surgery/procedures and he has been amazing. I’ve been going to him every 3 months and he is always thorough, compassionate and takes as much time with me as I need. He listens to my concerns and explains things in detail. I’m lucky that he turned out to be my doctor and would highly recommend him. His staff at the Germantown office goes out of their way to help you and you can see that they care deeply about their patients.

Dr.Silva is the kind of doctor that you thought no longer existed. He spent time with me and my wife. Explained my diagnosis (with drawings), he ultimately spared me from having surgery that a different vascular surgeon had said I needed done “soon”. He monitors me carefully every six months & the one time I had a concern & called the office, he called right back, this was a weekend, & fit me in on the Monday! I highly recommend him, and the staff in the office couldn’t say enough great things about how he treats all his patients.

Lacking in many areas. Does not want to educate you to your diagnosis, what he is prescribing, what the treatment is, and the reason for the treatment. When you go for an appointment a procedure is done that was not previously discussed, and when completed he is vague about the results. You have to ask for more details about the results which he seems to be annoyed about. He gives you limited information that is not clear. Upon further questioning he is short and does not discuss in details. Never does he use diagrams or models to describe to you what is going on with your body or what he treating. He is condescending, and intimidated if you appear to know anything about your condition, and ask questions. He forgot about the piece that an educated patient is the best patient! He is not meticulous, and don't even try to be. When applying a dressing to an area, it is done without much attention to the fact that he is treating a patient and not a veterinarian patient (and the… owner of a pet would demand much better). When there are many other Vascular Surgeons to choose from, why settle for an individual of this caliber.

I was referred to Dr. Silva's practice by my primary care physician. Dr. Silva presented me with a decision about whether or not to have a procedure and was very cavalier in presenting the pros and cons. He refused to make a recommendation. When I decided to have the procedure, the results turned out normal, and he then chaastised me for chasing a diagnosis. He is the expert, not me, and I expected a recommendation.

I have been to this doctor twice. Each time he acts as if I am bothering him and he has to rush off someplace else. The staff tell me he does this with everyone. Why? They have 4 other doctors. Go to one of them.
