Dr. Richard B Weiss, PhD

I have never met Dr Weiss, but he was my son’s clinician at Twin Towers for several years, and during that time I had phone conversations with him concerning my son’s condition. He was informative and supportive, recommending actions I could take to be a better advocate for my son and to take care of myself. Dr. Weiss was involved in the competency recovery program, called MIST, and the discharge planning when my son’s sentence was up. Dr Weiss now works in Los Angeles department of Health Services in the Office of Diversion and Re-entry, a program that is successfully helping formerly encarcerated establish themselves in housing and ongoing recovery. Unfortunately none of my son’s placements from Twin Towers into treatment have yet yielded results, and as my son’s conservator, I am bound by law to advocate for the best treatment situation possible. Dr. Weiss continues to be a steadfast support in helping me navigate the various systemic idiosyncracies of Twin Towers and LACDMH.… It never ceases to amaze me that he is willing to help, above and beyond his job description.
