Dr. Cerfolio is the best doctor I have ever met. I was diagnosed with a rare, slow-growing tumor, and after a bronchoscopy removed the visible part, my local medical team immediately recommended a lung lobectomy—without a tumor board review or proper assessment of the tumor type. This was far too aggressive for my situation. Not trusting my local surgeon, I researched my tumor type extensively and searched for the best doctor to treat it. When I got a second opinion from Dr. Cerfolio (even over a poor tech connection), he explained everything about my tumor in just two minutes—how it grows, what to do, and why. His deep knowledge and clarity instantly gave me confidence. His team is equally outstanding. As an out-of-town patient, I received help arranging everything—from hotel recommendations to medical guidelines—and they responded within minutes, 24/7. Before surgery, Dr. Cerfolio recommended a bronchial sleeve resection, which other doctors told me was physically impossible… without removing my lobe. (One regional surgeon even said, “Every doctor who can do that is, in essence, a liar.”) Dr. Cerfolio spent nearly two hours with me and my parents (both doctors) reviewing every detail, answering questions, and even giving me his personal cell number—unheard of in my local hospital, where speaking to a doctor means fighting through call center “gatekeepers.” On surgery day, he thoroughly examined the area using multiple advanced techniques, including narrow band imaging, and found no tumor. He performed 13 biopsies to confirm—no tumor cells remained. He immediately went to my parents, explained everything, and even showed them video from the procedure. After months of emotional stress, this was the best news I could have hoped for. Dr. Cerfolio not only saved me from unnecessary surgery, but his care, empathy, and energy made me feel like part of an elite team—his patient “athletes.” He still follows up with texts and calls because he truly cares. Dr. Cerfolio represents the highest standard of excellence and leadership in medicine. I hope more doctors follow his example—his approach should be the gold standard in every hospital.

Dr. Cerfolio is an excellent skilled surgeon! He is wise, skilled, caring . He was the fifth surgeon I visited for my condition and he was the only surgeon able to perform the surgery fully robotically and successfully. He is incredibly attentive, listens and provides his cell phone number to each patient, asks you to text him daily with an update and responds whenever you text even if its after work hours. He is thoughtful, insightful, caring and down to earth. He personally addresses your issue and is proactive. He has surrounded himself with an excellent team both inpt and outpt. Excellent Fellows, Nurse Practitioners and Office Staff team that make reaching their office and having your concerns addressed simply and efficiently. I have worked in healthcare for over 30 years and have never seen a surgeon as excellent and attentive as he is. I am proud to have put my trust and confidence in Dr. Cerfolio. I thank G-d for leading me to him ! He truly reassured me in a way nobody else… could have both because he had performed this unique surgery all the time and his confidence and positivity was contagious . Truly Grateful!

Dr. Cerfolio is a surgeon par-excellence. He is also a very special individual - he is kind, warm, gentle and caring, and he is sensitive to waiting relatives, as he texts updates during the surgery. My husband and I were blown away by his humility. Dr. Cerfolio encouraged me to go back to my regular activities immediately and expected a daily progress report via text for the first five days post-op. He is truly one of a kind!

From the minute my husband and I met Dr. Cerfolio, he filled us with confidence. After our first appointment, my husband turned to me and said, "I want that guy." I could not have agreed more and am so glad we're in his hands. After my husband's surgery, a double-lobectomy, Dr. Cerfolio appeared in the waiting room with a huge grin, two thumbs up and a compassion-filled hug. Dr. Cerfolio is the best doctor I have ever met and treats his patients like relatives. A PET scan indicated that my mother had a lung mass that was probably cancer. Unfortunately, the pulmonologist failed the biopsy and we did not know what the mass was. The oncologist suggested surgery even though we did not know what the mass was. Dr. Cerfolio was to do the surgery, but he did not rush it and called me before the surgery to make sure everything was fine. He decided to order another CAT scan beforehand just in case. The scan showed that my mother's lung mass had gotten smaller. Dr. Cerfolio suggested not to do the procedure yet but to observe the mass as it was less likely to be cancer. We had another CAT scan after six weeks and my mother's lung mass had become significantly smaller again. The radiologist said it was probably an inflammatory etiology. Thanks to Dr. Cerfolio's wise decision, my mother did not need to have surgery and have complications afterwards.

Dr. Robert Cerfolio is the best in the field of robotic thoracic surgery. He is very confident in his abilities. Dr. Cerfolio was my mother's surgeon. Naturally, my sister and I had concerns about the procedures my mother had to endure. Dr. Cerfolio assured us that through prayer and with God's help the surgery would go well. The surgery went very well. My mother is getting better and better each day. We would like to thank Dr. Cerfolio and his staff for their kindness during this stressful time.

Dr. Cerfolio and staff were absolutely great during the entire process of my fathers lung surgery. We as a family were very stressed with our father getting diagnosed with lung cancer but Dr. Cerfolio helped us tremendously in getting in a positive mindset. The surgery had its complications but having Dr. Cerfolio as his surgeon saved our fathers life. Words can't express our gratitude and confidence we have in Dr. Cerfolio and his entire staff.

A Christian who is very caring, fully aware of my problem before meeting me, got immediately to the bottom line about surgery. He saw my family soon after surgery, staff visited daily, personally saw me in hospital before discharge. he exhibits extreme knowledge of his field-a brilliant down to earth man!!!
