Dr. Robert Cicarell, MD

Dr Cicarell is the most compassionate, well informed mental health professional I have ever known. His kind demeanor gives one the knowledge one is leaving feeling better than when one arrives. He is such an asset to the VA.

Dr. Cicarell has been my psychiatrist for several years now and has provided excellent care with no doubts! Keep up the great work and thank you for working every day.

Dr Cicarell is currently my Dr. He is very professional, understanding & intuitive. He immediately made me feel at ease and I felt that he genuinely cares about my health and not just another “number ”.

Dr Robert Cicarell is my psychiatrist @ the Southern AZ VA and he is great. He is a knowledgeable and skilled Dr of psychiatry who is also caring and compassionate and makes me feel welcome and comfortable. I struggle with some very challenging mental health issues like Bipolar and PTSD thankfully having a Dr like Dr Cicarell has made it easier for me to seek and get help which can be really hard for me to do. He has had some great insights into my meds that really helped improve my quality of life. He also treats me as a whole person in an integrative medicine style. I am always anxious to get assigned a new provider since I have had some really bad experiences in the past. Being an LGBT veteran is tough since not all Dr’s are LGBT friendly or accepting of me and my partner, fortunately Dr Cicarell is welcoming of people from all walks of life including LGBT. I am so thankful to have been assigned Dr Cicarell.

He really takes the time to get to know his patients and about their lives so you don’t feel like just another number in the system. He listens to your concerns about medications and always goes above and beyond to try to get you on the right medication and dosage for you, including making sure your labs and vitamin levels are in good standing cause that can effect your mental health too. And if there is ever an emergency with your medications he gets back to you within a reasonable timeframe. Great psychiatrist!

Dr. Cicarell takes care of my mother, and does an outstanding job. He goes above and beyond for her and provided so much insight when I tagged along today. Its a beautiful thing to know your loved one is in good hands, and to have all questions and concerns addressed without being rushed. Hes very compassionate and kind, and I genuinely appreciated his time and care of her.

I highly recommend Dr. Cicarell to everyone who has tried everything else with no luck. He is compassionate and actually listens. I went through numerous doctors and a mental health crisis and he was the first doctor who actually listened, and took everything I needed as well as what I wanted into consideration. He came up with a plan of action WITH ME, not FOR ME, like all of the other doctor's did. You will not find a better mental health doctor!

I have celiac disease and am new to being gluten free. He spent his own personal time making packets and doing research so he could be prepared and it really made me feel appreciated and special. We went over meds that i am allowed to take instead of listing everything i cant we spent a long time talking because i was in tears and worried about trying a new doctor and new medicines but he made me feel comfortable like a human should and by the time i was leaving i was relaxed and happy. He really listens to his patients and hes a good person
