Dr. Robert Colin Dugan

This doctor seemed annoyed by my presence from the moment we met. He had a very poor bedside manner. He spent very little time diagnosing me and didn't take time to explain much. I had to pull questions out of him to find out what potential treatment options would be. I was told by his nurse that he does not return phone calls.

I was thrilled with the office staff, from making the appointment to the wonderful woman that greeted me. I thought, this is going to be a great experience.... then I saw Dr. Dugan. After some pithy comments, he gave me 1 page of a 2 page exercise therapy sheet that he didn't even fill out and sent me on my way. I got that much from WebMD!

Dr Dugan seemed nice and professional although a bit of a joker. I didn't mind that, after the surgery when things were not going as planned, he became curt and went as far as to say that he didn't see any problem, he seemed in denial about the issue. Example:Sitting in his office in shorts with the operated knee clearly two times the size of the other one, he then told me, "I see no sign of swelling or fluid buildup" My new doctor took 55 ml of fluid out of that knee a week later and had to do it 2 more times, since then I had a knee replacement which Dugan was jokingly in denial about doing in the first place. I do not recommend this guy.

Dr. Dugan provided care for all three teenage sons. Once called from the waiting room, his staff and nurse pract. were outstanding, attentive and proactive in making the appointment go quickly, coordinating meds thru Walgreens and setting up our follow-up appointments. Dr. Dugan has outstanding bedside manner with my sons, and one of the best in explaining the details to me. He is very direct in a very respectful manner. After his exam and x-rays, he brought us to his computer where he review the results in front of us, explaining all he was looking at and how to review and understand the information he was reading. I was very impressed with the way in which he dealt with the medical issue and more so with us as patient and parent. Like most Orthpedic Surg., when he conducts surgeries in the a.m., the afternoon appointments may be potentially delayed should the operations run long (and that is what has happened to us). That's the cost of doing business, but ask if he is… scheduled for surgery when making your appointments. If you live close, call the office before coming over to see if he is running on time. When Dr. Dugan was running late in surgery, his front office was more than willing to call me at home as the doctor was catching up to our appointment. This was a great time-saver.

I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. He gives smart alec answers and his bedside manner is terrible.
