Dr. Robert Scott Graham, MD

He is very good at his specialty and he is a good listener. Dr. Graham is very good at communicating with his patient. I was easy to understand his questions and his explanations. I've only met a few Physicians who are as good as he is and I'm 60 years old. I worked in the medical field almost all my adult life so I've come in contact with hundreds of Physicians.

Excellent surgeon and doctor.

Dr, Graham may not have a great bedside manner but his care following my car accident wherein I broke C2 was outstanding. I also went back to him for minor back surgery and found out that unless the surgery was outstanding he does not even bother speaking to you following the surgery. It almost felt that I was going to 2 very different physicians. Great care and follow up then about 3 years later I felt that I was wasting his time. Although I have to say, since the second surgery my leg no longer gives way on me. I cannot fault his surgical abilities.

I am so glad Dr. Graham was my surgeon for spinal fusion surgery recently. I had no recommendations from friends about who to see and investigated the neurosurgery group at VCU Medical Center. Before and after my surgery, he was great about answering questions and his beside manner was the best ever for a surgeon. Very laid back and calming demeanor. I highly recommend him to anyone searching.

He spent very little time with us

I came prepared with prior exams and a list of questions as I always do for any doctor's appointment. Their time is valuable and so is mine so I always think ahead of questions I have. The doctor came in with a shadowing assistant. Maybe he was wanting to show off for her or perhaps he's always this smug. Within minutes, without any tests or a degree is psychology, he tells me that it is clear from my list of questions that I'm obsessive about my own health (who else would be?) and that there was nothing wrong with me. He told me to seek mental help. He also criticized a previous surgery I had without knowing full information or being open to the idea that maybe, just maybe, there was something that he did not know and could learn from. Not very impressed with him. Perhaps if you have something that gets his attention is a great doctor. Based on my experience, I found him smug and not helpful.

Dr. Graham has all the basics. Nothing to really complain about overall, however I felt he didn't have any real interest in my case or treating me (multiple herniated discs). Felt like I was just one in a long line of patients. I do think if you had a fascinating or involved case he has the expertise and may be the guy for you. If you're looking for compassionate care and a doctor who listens and cares about what life is like for you trying to live with your condition and how to better your quality of life- this is not the guy.

Dr. Graham has to be one of the best MDs ever. He repaired a spinal problem I had and then I had surgery again. He spends time with you like you are the only patient in the world. He takes time to explain everything and he is a meticulous surgeon. To me, he is the best neurosurgeon around and I have recommended to anyone with spinal problems. He knows you personally. He is the BEST!

Dr. Graham was fantastic, a great doctor very knowledgeable and responsive to any questions I had before and after my surgery.

One of the best physicians I have ever been to. Very caring. Spends time with you as if you are his only patient.
