Dr. Robert Joseph Hartman

Dr. Hartman always makes me feel as though he would take all the time needed to speak with me about any concerns or problems. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to see him and that alone makes me feel like a valued patient. I can't say enough good things about him! His staff is always helpful and pleasant.

I liked that he sent time with me to get to know what it was I needed. He listened very well and was very pleasant. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. He is a very good doctor.

Dr. Hartman has been the doctor for the women in my family for 20+ years. I would recommend him in a heartbeat, and trust him. I had been seeing a different gynecologist at school (about 420 miles away from home), and had a scary emergency ovarian cyst removal (with an even rougher recovery-I needed 2 blood transfusions and it took weeks to get back on my feet). About a year later, the gynecologist at school misdiagnosed me with tumors, so I went to Dr. Hartman for a second opinion. In ten minutes (and without an ultrasound), he identified that they were cysts, and not likely tumors. We did an ultrasound, and after six weeks of monitoring, they had to be surgically removed (as well as endometrial tissue discovered during surgery). My recovery was quick and significantly less painful than the previous surgery. I just saw him again today, and found out I need another laparoscopic surgery in a few weeks, for painful endometrial lesions. He explained everything straightforwardly… and easily, as well as the post-op treatment plan. He's one of the best in his field, and I appreciate that he didn't try to sugarcoat the fact that I'd need surgery, and that it should happen sooner rather than later. Even for regular appointments, he takes his time, and his examinations are done with tact and kindness.

In Chicagoland, he is the best in my book. In healthcare to get a doctor that still has a bedside manner and really gets it is hard to find. Especially in this line of work with OB/GYN. He's a gem!

This doctor did not provide adequate care which resulted in the still birth of my son. He did not tell me the baby was small. He did not order any ultrasounds and did not address the fact that I was spotting during my pregnancy.
