Dr. Robert Edwin Hirsch, PhD

I saw Dr. Hirsch for 10 visits. His website said he takes insurance. He insisted I pay up front fees that exceeded by co-payment obligation. He submitted bills with errors in them. When I addressed this with him, he re-traumatized me by saying the most hateful and unprofessional things one could ever imagine. Stay away!

ONE OF THE WORST AND MOST UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE. My girlfriend and I went to see Dr. Hirsch to help with our relationship and other personal issues. A primary concern from the beginning was the cost, as my insurance only allows four visits with a co-pay every year. I expressed this to Dr. Hirsch because I didn't want to exceed the number of visits I had with a co-pay. He told me that my insurance could not limit how many visits with a co-pay I could have in a year and told me not to worry. He proceeded to manipulate us into coming nearly every week, sometimes twice a week. What he said about my insurance was false and he ran us up $2,000 in charges and denied anything that he said. Quite honestly, this person LIES. He says things and then acts like he has memory loss and never said them. When we tried to discuss the billing situation with him, he kept reiterating his lies. Finally, he threatened that HE WOULD REVEAL OUR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION, SUE US, AND SEND A… CREDITOR AFTER US if we didn't pay him. (I have a 780 credit score and always my debts.) I feel nothing but PURE DISGUST FROM this person and I wish I could forget his name and face. I feel like I have been defrauded by a cheat. WOST "PROFESSIONAL" EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible therapist! Waste of time and money! There is a reason he’s one of the only psychologists in San Diego that still takes insurance. He’s awful!
