Dr. Robert Brian Huff, MD, Ophthalmology

Dr Huff is a very competent eye doctor and I appreciate his skill level and experience. My issue is the chronic and extreme wait times, regardless of the time of appointment. I don’t know the reason but the wait times are excruciatingly long, and people are not served in the order of their scheduled appointments. For people who take time off from work, pay for childcare during their appointment, or who have friends or family members sitting in their cars or in the waiting room, the wait time is painful and not acceptable (usually several hours before being seen). As a patient, it feels like my time is not respected or valued. So, it’s a dilemma for patients who must decide if the quality of care is worth the extreme wait period. Of the several specialists that I see in Columbia, this is the only medical practice that demonstrates this chronic wait period and indifferent culture in the clinic environment.

It is a big decision to have someone operate on your eyes -- Dr. Huff was patient, cheerful, and generous with his time answering my many questions. It is thrilling to be without glasses and be able to see better than ever. The staff have the same ethic of courtesy and patience and experience.

Dr. Huff did an EXCELLENT job with my LENSX procedure and Tecnis Multifocal lens. I can drive and read road signs or pick up my phone and read text WITHOUT glasses now. He is patient, thorough, great at explaining the problem and the process and what to expect. I highly recommend him and The Eye Center, PA.

The staff was not friendly. The wait time was about an hour and could have been longer if I had not went to the desk to address my wait time. The person who finally waited on me would not look me in the face, but looked at their paperwork or computer whenever I answered their question. I I felt this robotic approach to my services. The doctor asked me an odd question that did not appear relevant as to why I was there. Also, I did not get a clear answer regarding my medical condition. I heard personal conversation between staff while I was waiting to see the doctor, which had a tone that made me wonder if I should be hearing the conversation. Other errors were made while I was there and no one took responsibility for the problem. I spent quite a bit of money for my visit there and did not deserve such treatment. Whatever happened to, "do no harm"? I am a mild mannered person and know I did not deserve such ill-mannered treatment. If the purpose was to provide me poor and… disrespectful service, they did an excellent job.

Great experience with Dr.Huff and his staff. Dr. Huff was thorough in his explanation of my options for cataract surgery and helped me make the best decision for surgery on both eyes. I am absolutely amazed at the results. I now have the best vision of my life. I highly recommend Dr. Huff.
