Dr. Robert Sheldon Pushkin, MD

1-Asked me if I knew who the father of the child was. This was my first sexual experience. I am facially disfigured. There was no nurse in the room with him. I lack eyelashes on one eyelid, have excessive facial hair, and have acne scars. 2- Told me I probably had a "tumor." He was being a "smartass." 3- Used a snarling voice with me most of the exam.4-Never mentioned the word adoption during the exam. 5- Recommended a surgical abortion using a scalpel although the fetus was only 3 1/2 months.6-After the surgery he told me he had sewn me up like a "tailor" would. 7- I was no kid, but I was in a panic state before going to him, despite being 27 years old.. A rogue priest was the father of the child and when the Dr. asked me if I knew who the father was I "freaked out" and told him I didn't know who the father was. My panic may have made him think I should be sterilized. This priest would later tell me he had helped pay for the abortion with money from the Church. He would also… manage to get his subordinate priest removed from the Church when that priest wanted to have a union set up to settle church disputes. I reported the priest to the archdiocese, but they sent him to Hawaii. This baby was a better human being than any of the people involved in his demise. It's been 46 years since the Dr and I were in the same room. I hope we never have to be in the same room again. When I told the priest I could not give up the baby if I held it in my arms, he made no response. The source of my panic was the fear that I would be fired for having an illegitimate child and that no one would hire me again. The sister of a co-worker was about to be fired for having a baby out of wedlock. I am not an old wacko. I have worked 40 years, have two college degrees, and have lived in a Senior Building for six years. I know there are good doctors and good priests but these two men were not in that group.
