Dr. Robert Theodore Shebert, MD

Grotesque display of unprofessionalism unbecoming for a medical professional let alone a medical doctor M.D. This Doctor absolutely was abusive to me and told me to shut and be quiet while I was trying to explain my symptoms. This man is cruel with no compassion and no empathy for a patient's feelings or what they have gone through. I am handicapped and disabled and he would not come to the medical exam room to examine me but made me walk down an an extremely long corridor and another hallway to find him seated behind a desk and computer. This is unacceptable. Patients we must know our rights and speak up and out when bad medical professionals such as these humiliate and belittle us. We deserve better!

He is arogant. Rude. Says things that has nothing to do with your appt. Asked me if i ate Collard Greens and Ribs for Dr Martin Luther Kings Celebration. Asked me what i thought about Bikes Up Guns Down Riders. I seen him twice and both times he has slick comments coming out his mouth. I told him about my hip bothering me he pretty much asked was i sexually active? Meaning if my hip bothering me i , i guess shouldn't be sexually active. He is a JOKE and needs to RETIRE!! 1-22-19 OLD FART ????

I went to this doctor to get help for my condition and it was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. I tried to explain to him my symptoms and he tried to tell he it's all in my head ( three others doctors have diagnose me with my condition). I do not even want to go into details of what he said to me because it is disgusting and no doctor should ever say the thing he said to me. I am only writing this review to bring awareness of what you might experience if you go to this doctor.

I was recommended by another Neurologist to see him for an expert opinion for a diagnosis. I had to wait a couple of months for an appointment. I came in there with high expectations as I have been suffering with a degenerative neurological issue. The examination he did was average, if that, and he didn't want to take the time to examine my symptoms further. I came out of the appointment very disappointed and feeling like I completely wasted my time.

I would never go back. Wants to blame Fibromyalgia to cause things that is doesn't . Tells me to eat less if I ate less I would be dead. Forget that I lost 8 lbs in 6 days before ever seeing him. And being 20 pounds over weight doesn't cause this either.

He is awesome! He has saved my life on at least 2 occasions

He did not even attempt to obtain an accurate history from me before starting to make condescending remarks. I thought for sure that he must trying to be humorous until I realized that at no point during the entire appointment did he ever show any respect for me, my husband, or any of our concerns regarding my symptoms. He must use the same not so comedic material for more than one of his patients because he did mention that I may be able to do more with a gun to my head and made comments about losing weight. I noticed many of the same complaints in an earlier review. Although the accusation of him having some signs of dementia did not come to mind, his being a pompous, disrespectful, terrible example of a healthcare professional sure did. Not sure why he is thought to be one of UM's finest. Sad actually.

Shebert has terrible bedside manner, proved to be short on time (in a rush after I'd waited close to 2 months) and approaches treatment from a "prove you have something wrong with you." As in "you SAY x, y, z is wrong with you, but I have no evidence of anything being wrong with you. I can only go by evidence, not what you say your symptoms are (such as pain.) When I demonstrated that I have a shake for which I'm seeking an explanation, he muttered that "I can make myself shake too." This was on my first visit, so we had no prior relationship. Instead, I was referred to him because I had extraneous symptoms that my currently diagnosed chronic disease did not explain. Among his ruder questions/ comments was asking my mother why she named me "that" and whether, if he placed a gun to my head, I could walk. He raised his voice (shouted) at my mother when she interrupted him to clarify a point he kept confusing and told her to "stand down." He attributed by inability to walk and my tremors… to being overweight, though I explained that I'd been overweight only a year and experienced problems of increasing seriousness for the past three years. Additionally, I am not THAT obese. I don't even wear plus sized clothes. I also told him, repeatedly that much of my weight gain seemed attributed to prednisone and inability to move without severe pain. His answer was "well the calories are getting there somewhere way. Repeatedly he referred to me as a large woman and said, "you can't pretend you feel good like that." Just a few minutes earlier while filling out the new patient forms, I encountered an odd statement that I was required to check off: I am willing to accept that my condition might be emotional in nature. It seems to me that Dr. Robert Shebert is quite uncomfortable with not having "the answer." It is clear that there is no room in his treatment philosophy for "I don't know," "medicine has no clear guidance on this," or "medicine doesn't have all the answers yet." Given his odd sort of behavior and weird belligerence, I almost wonder if he isn't approaching dementia. I mean, the man ordered NO tests and rendered his verdict defensively. If you visit him for more than the most routine concerns, it'll be on your own head.

He, personally called us from the waiting room. My appt was for 1pm. Having arrived at 12:30-we were called in by Dr Shebert at 12:50. He was personable, sense of humor, thorough. I didn't feel rushed. Wonderful experience
