Dr. Robert Sisk, MD

During a surgery to repair a torn retina, with complications including a hospital acquired infection from a cornea transplant, Dr. Sisk nicked a blood vessel. This in turn caused the eye to bleed out, resulting in complete vision loss. Optic nerve was completely destroyed. Despite repeated calls to his office early post op reporting severe pain, eye swelling to thrice it's size, and vision loss, concerns were ignored and no emergency appointment was scheduled. At regularly scheduled post op appointment following surgery, syringe was inserted by Dr. Sisk to aspirate vitreous fluid and blood from eye in office, with no forewarning, numbing, or consultation prior with patient. Severe ophthalmic pressure was ignored post op. Dr. Sisk was the on call physician, but did not notify patient's regular attending surgeon of patient's surgery or emergency. Subsequent requests to obtain medical records regarding this surgery and post op care proved records were non-existent until three full months… after this surgery. When records were finally obtained, records show complete absence of the patients frantic phone calls regarding immediate post op complications and horrific pain; records were incomplete and also misleading. When questioned, Dr. Sisk was evasive and vague. I would not recommend Dr. Sisk to any patient.

I was very impressed with the accuracy of every person that I came in contact with at CEI. Everyone was knowledgeable about their jobs. Very helpful in answering my questions.

What they can accomplish routinely is really quite miraculous. Sisk explains things clearly, but sometimes gives off an air of being extremely busy, which of course, he is. Generally, I have found the office to be quite efficient, with short wait times seeing the technicians, and then finally the doctor. In this last visit, things were rather slow: my appointment was for 9:45, and I did not get our of the office until after 12:00, having spent about 10 minutes with the doctor.

I have full confidence in Dr. Sisk. He is conscientious about doing what is best for my vision. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Sisk is a very competent physician. He does a good job of explaining what he is doing is understandable language - although very quickly - so as to feel rushed. The hallmark of my interaction with him over about a 10 month period was canceled (needing to reschedule) appointments. Three appointments AND my surgery (which included a week recovery period) had to be rescheduled. Additionally his surgery assistant never returned my call to assist me with completing my paperwork for my employer. Most of which could have been remediated with a sincere extension of regret/compassion from office staff that delivered the message. Clearly they were simply doing their job.

I had to have shots in both of my eyes. I am quite an eye phobic, and Dr. Sisk handled my anxiety with good communication. He explained exactly what he was doing, and why. The entire staff was very professional. Highly recommend Dr. Sisk.
