Dr. Roch Richard Boyer, MD

Roch R. Boyer: Thoracic surgery specialist Roch Richard Boyer, MD, F.A.C.S., is a member of the Kalispell Regional Medical Center staff and practices with Northwest Montana Surgical Associates. Dr. Boyer carried out his medical studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. During that time, he participated in ongoing research with Dr. David Ralph, an associate professor of respiratory diseases. Dr. Boyer then completed his general surgery residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo. He was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1992 and recertified in 2001, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Boyer served on the Montana State Trauma Committee from 1992 through 1998. In 1999 he took on the chairmanship of Department Peer Review and Credentialing at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, and the following year chaired the Department of Surgery. He served on the Health Center Northwest Physician Board from 2004 to 2007. Dr. Boyer has initiated many …surgical advances in the 20 years he has been at KRMC. He performed the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), anti-reflux surgery, and laparoscopic assisted colectomy. He also initiated pre-peritoneal hernia repair technique, allowing patients with hernias a substantially diminished postoperative pain and recovery time.
