Dr. Roland Yongchul Kim, PhD

Dr. Kim has helped me greatly with my social anxiety, and I wholeheartedly would recommend him to anyone.

I've been seeing Dr. Kim for over 10 years. I initially went to him because I returned to the US after being abroad for a year. I found myself feeling anxious and depressed and decided to see a therapist. In that time, as we worked on my issues, I was able to find my birth family and build a relationship with them that I am comfortable with. After getting married, struggling to get pregnant, and then finally having a challenging child, Dr. Kim has stood by me with wisdom and understanding. He recognized the issues of my childhood and understood how they may affect my relationship with my husband and child. He has patiently coached me with practical steps but more importantly he has helped me heal and grieve my past so that it doesn't affect my future. These are the tangible outcomes of the work that Dr. Kim was able to facilitate in my life. He has been a stable, professional, kind, and intelligent therapist that knows how to listen but also press when needed.

Unjust confidentiality agreement-- The therapist, in exchange for his services, uses a consumer contract that imposes a confidentiality duty on his patients. This is not normal practice at all. While psychologists are in fact required to remain confidential about their therapy sessions, patients are free to discuss their experiences whenever and with whomever they want. Therapeutic orientation-- Object Relations--based on Freudian studies. Lacks scientific evidence with questionable effectiveness. Also, one of the most time-consuming and expensive forms of psychotherapy. Therapy sessions-- Indirectly imposed his religious views. Created false records about me. History-- He had previously been sued for medical malpractice. Professional Negligence-- Failed to perform the basic and essential administrative duties required of a licensed therapist.
