Dr. Ronak Chinai, MD

I did my annual physical checkup at Dr. Chinai's, which is supposed to be 100% covered by my insurance plan. But I was billed total ~$140 by the doctor's office and the blood test center he works with. The doctor's office charged me over $50 for a useless follow-up visit. Even though I told him at the first that I was just there for a routine checkup, his office suggested me to schedule a follow up visit upfront. All of my results are in normal ranges except Vitamin D, which is minor but caused me over $50. Of course, he can always say they wouldn't be able to make an appointment without my consent, and it was me stepping into his office. But apparently he didn't provide professional recommendations based on each customer's health situation. The blood test center he sent my samples to billed me another $90. I went through a lot of frustration calling Cigna, the doctor's office and the lab. It's a total waste of time and the problem is still unsolved until today.

I typically see the nurse practitioner there who i really do like, however, i dont like how this place conducts business. first off, the atmosphere is horrible, i only used to go there when i really need to and now that city md is here i will go there instead. the offices overall are dark and dingy and depressing but for emergencies i felt the nurse practitioner at this practice was fine. i had gone in for a routine UTI and they took a urine sample and gave me medication. depending on the results of the culture, i may have needed a different type of antibiotic but i would start on this one until results came in. i asked them about how long it usually takes and they gave me an estimate ready date for results to be in. the date came and went and nobody called me. i assumed all was ok and i didnt need a different course of antibiotics but something told me to just call and make sure bc i was leaving for a trip in a few days and didnt want any issues while traveling. upon calling i was… told the results were in two days after my appt but nobody called me! then i was told that is not their policy, it's the patients responsibility to call them and check on results and they will not give results over the phone so patients have to make an appt and come back in to get results! even if there is nothing more to say except we got the results, the medication we gave you is fine. this is now a week after i started my antibiotics and had finished the entire course of meds. i was furious that they would not give me the results over the phone or through email or fax and were going to bill me and my insurance for a whole office visit to simply be told yes the medication is correct or no it's not and we will call in a new one! so i said i would stop in the next morning and pick up my results. when i picked the results up i was SHOCKED to see that the strain of infection i had was not in fact treatable w/ the medication they gave me and they allowed me to not only finish a course of unneeded antibiotics but they also care so little about their patients that they didnt even feel the need to call me and let me know that my infection would persist unless i changed the medication!! so i took my results and simply texted my regular gyn a photo of the test results and she called me in the correct prescription that day. to add insult to injury i got a no show appointment bill for the morning i said i was coming in to pick up my results! unbelievable! i'll never EVER go back, so happy city md has come to the neighborhood!!!!!! i've been there twice since this incident and it's like night and day, they are super professional, the follow up is great and when you have tests done, guess what? they call you and inform you of the results!!

Worst experience going to a primary care for annual checkup. First of all the staff were unprofessional and unwilling to answer questions. Even with prior appointment I had to wait over 30 mins. When performing the routine check-up the nurse asked me for my height because their machine to measure height was broken. Finally, the doctor wanted billed all my annual blood tests and inspection as not annual, so my insurance didn't cover the claims. Finally when I went to receive my report they said my vitamin B was really low and had to take vitamin B injections. When I did another test I had no deficiency whatsoever. This doctor and the entire facility is a cheat. I would never recommend going here even if you are dying. My roommate went here as well and faced similar issues.

Very dissapointed with the office of Dr Ronak Chinai. Went in for an annual physical and related blood work covered as per my insurance policy but ended up getting charged for the office visit and blood work. This despite me making it very clear at the front office that it is an annual physical. Called the office to resolve the billing errors but the office completely refused to budge stating that it was a diagnostic visit and not an annual physical. They were also very rude during our discussion. Very dissapointed with the surprise and WRONG billing and will not be going back to them ever.

I would not go again to this medical practice. I went there for my annual medical checkup which is fully covered by my insurance. However, the doctor's office simply did a blood test and did not provide any explanatory notes (unlike other providers in Jersey city and elsewhere) on how to interpret the diagnostics. They wanted me to take additional paid appointments to interpret the results.

I am Doctor R. Chinai patient for about 10 years, and to me he is the best, no appointment is needed, and I love it, it is a walk in Office; as a Doctor, he is a professional and caring, and he shows that he really cares for his patients, and I would not change for any other Doctor, and for the reception area, I cannot say any bad thing about them, to me they are working in a very busy Office, and reception area it is tremendously busy, between the patients coming in, and the phone, if were me working there, I would be going crazy, I have to praise them for they professional attitude, respect and courtesy towards those , (sometimes very nasty, and abusive patients...) my Doctor and his nurses, do make me feel special, I love them all...

Dr Chinai really seems to care about his patients. He listens and is flexible and creative in proposing solutions. Seems very knowledgeable.

Dr. Ronak Chinai is the best dr. i have known. i have been going to him for four years now. very professional and smart. he takes his time seeing his patients and does not rush. recommend him highly. he also has another office on 129 newark ave so it is very convenient.

well i found this facility quite sham.. Doc does not care much... i was already detected with anemia and usually have very high pulse.. i was not there to treat my anemia.. But it surprises me that doctor could not find it out in customary BP and pulse rating.. When ever you go to PCP.. they do this thing first.. He said that my BP and pulse is normal.. BP machine was century old and he counted pulse with hand on wrist.. where as whenever i go to any other regular place.. most of the time medical people ask me that why my pulse is high so i explain them that it is because of anemia.. which i am working on.. so i can not trust him to do any diagnosis on me... Most of the reviews over here looks fake to me...

When I moved here 9 years ago it took me a while to find a good general/primary care doctor. I looked in JC and Manhattan, I finally found Dr Chinai and he has been my doc for approximately 7 years now. I have found him to be a great doctor, the best I have had.Knowledge/accuracy - For a family/general practitioner I have been impressed with the breadth and depth of his knowledge. I have come to him for everything from major injuries (requiring surgery) to advice on supplements to replace prescription drugs and everything in between. He has been able to accurately diagnose and prescribe the right course of actions every time. Logistics If you drive, parking is validated and free at Newport, if you dont drive it is a very short walk from the path (either office). Speed I think every time I have called I have been offered a same day appointment. When I go to the office I never wait more than 5-10 minutes.I have sent friends and even co-workers to him. They have been taken care of and… had similar experience. My wife now goes to him and if/when we have kids they will too.
