Dr. Russell Sean Petrie

On 3/4, I dislocated my patella. I went to Hoag Hospital's ER and was referred to NOI for follow-up. I saw PA Kerrie on 3/7, who ordered an MRI and CT scan. It took their office a full month to get both authorized and scheduled. Then, 2 days before my follow-up appointment on 4/4, to receive my MRI and CT results (surly can't do that over the phone, I guess) I receive a call that my appointment is being rescheduled. I cannot drive due to my injury, so I arranged a ride, child care, and made work arrangements to get to my 4/4 appointment. I called, very upset, and spoke to their completely unhelpful call center, who ended up transferring me to the office directly. I spoke with a staff member who had no empathy or compassion for my injury, pain, or the situation I was explaining. Being upset, I accused Dr. Petrie of canceling my Friday afternoon appointment to start the weekend early, and she began to berate me for accusing the doctor of that. I talked over her, and she said if I… wouldn't be calm, she would hang up on me. I admittedly got overly upset at this point and used foul language, so the staff hung up on me. I called back and was immediately transferred to the office manager, Julie. Julie also had zero empathy or compassion for my situation. She was very rude and combative. She raised her voice at me on the phone when, in frustration, I started crying about the arrangements I'd made. Julie canceled my rescheduled appointment date and told me she'd try to work me in on Friday if she got permission from Dr. Petrie. I called on Thursday to try to follow up with Julie. She was rude and abrasive on the phone telling me Dr. Petrie is busy and unable to answer the question at the moment. I went to NOI and saw Dr. Petrie, because I've always been part of the Hoag Healthcare system, and I trusted the ER's recommendation. I will never blindly take a recommendation from Hoag Hospital ever again. I was able to switch my care to Dr. Dean Wang at UCI. I'm going to have surgery by the end of this month because his office actually cared, got me in immediately, and is now doing a full pre operative workup.

Dr. Russell Petrie is skilled, knowledgeable and gifted in the field of Orthopedic surgery and his PA-C Kerri Knodel is also amazing and quite knowledgeable. What an amazing team and speaking of team, Dr. Petrie is the Orthopedic physician/surgeon for the Los Angeles Chargers. In 2016 I had my right shoulder repaired by Dr. Petrie. Yes an 80% rotator tear with cartilage damage and a shaved clavicle and today good as new. Currently I finished my left shoulder consult and will be seeking repair of several issues that have caused tremendous pain and lack of functionality. I met with Dr. Petrie and Kerri and they both were quite thorough on the prognosis, risks, treatment, surgery and recovery. I could not ask for a more knowledgeable and gifted surgeon and team! If you are looking for the best in this field look no more. I highly recommend Dr. Petrie, Kerri and staff as the are second to none!

I first discovered Dr Petrie 15 years ago after being tired of passed off by uninterested orthopedics that didn't even bother to inspect my knee or even prescribe an MRI. 5 mins with Dr Petrie and I got a correct diagnosis. An MRI later and we already had a surgical plan to fix me up as effective and minimally invasive as possible and 15 years later that knee is my good knee. I still see him even know if I detect something is up with either of my knees or shoulders. He understands his surgeries not just because experience but because he is athletic himself.

Dr Petrie has operated on by my knees for meniscus problems over the past several years. The total experience was so positive that when my son, who was playing college baseball, injured his knee my first call was to Dr Petrie. The outcomes were excellent I highly recommend Dr Petrie and his super staff.

Not 10 minutes after seeing Dr. Petrie did he recommend surgery. I told him I wanted to try rehab, PT, etc. I asked what the rush was and he wouldn't respond. Later I looked into the Orthopdic Institute and the hospital that these doctors and Hoag co-own. What a scam! While these surgeons are charging your $2,500 to do your surgery they are making over a $1.5 million a year in profits as co-owners. They make money on every MRI, hosptial admission, etc. No wonder these doctors are so anxious to operate!

I greatly appreciate Dr. Petrie fixed my shattered knee cap, he is the greatest knee doctor I know and he is very professional.

Dr Petrie is an amazing professional in the field of orthopedic medicine and his attitude, thoroughness and attentive approach is stellar. His staff is also top notch and Ray and the team make you feel and experience the best treatment and care one could imagine. You are in good hands with Dr Petrie and his team and I highly recommend him if you need a great doctor and tremendous results Thank you

The pre and post opp experience was awesome. Dr Petrie made me feel like I was his only patient. I have already recommended him to three of my friends.

Dr. Petrie throughly discussed my options for surgery on my meniscus and ACL. He Informed me he would only do the ACL reconstruction if absolutely necessary. His goal was for me to return to my active sports lifestyle for years to come (I am a BabyBoomer). His attention to detail before, during and after surgery far exceeds standard protocols. He enrolls you early in the process for a positive outcome and makes sure you know your role in recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Petrie.

Dr. Petrie was the one for me, the minute he walked into exam room. He was personable, to the point, thorough, and efficient. From pre op to surgery to follow up, concerned, kind, and knowledgable. Couldn't ask for any thing else or for a better experience
