Dr. Ryan Daniel Black, MD

Dr Black is professional and patient. I have a pretty complicated history so I’m not an easy patient. He has always been friendly, kind and forthright. Unfortunately I’ve had several encounters with his staff that have been less than positive. Every time you call the office you’re immediately put on hold. I’ve been on hold for 2 minutes and up to 20 min. Very frustrating as my time is important too. They don’t have the best technique if you have to have a tube in your bladder. Make sure they wash their hands! I had to have a procedure and it was scheduled and everything. Then they the day before called and cancelled it because of an insurance’ issue. As it turns out they forgot to call my insurance for precertification. Frustrating again! So love Dr Black but his office staff, not so much.

Let's face it, there's almost no fun reason to see a urologist. In my case, it was kidney stones. Dr. Black saw me at HH emergency room, and then saw me through two surgeries. He saw me when I was feeling and acting good, and when I was considerably less than good. Throughout the whole ordeal, no matter how I was presenting, he remained steadfast, steady and calm. I would recommend him to a friend. Like any surgeon I've had, he will tell you that you can bounce right up from surgery and even work the next day. They all do. But take a little time for your recovery. My only knock is, if you have a post-op complication that appears not directly related to the kidneys, his office will kick you to your GP. For me that may not have been the best course, since it turned out my high BP post-op was related to the stents implanted. Going to my GP was a detour resulting in additional antibiotic treatment I may not have needed.
