Dr. Ryan M. Smith, MD

THIS IS A LENGTHY REVIEW, BUT WORTH THE READ IF YOU’RE CONSIDERING SURGERY!!!!!!! YOU WON’T REGRET IT! There is no adequate description of Dr. Smith's surgical and medical talents and expertise that would do him justice! I began seeing Dr. Smith in September of 2021 regarding a vocal cord disorder and additional issues related to my septum, which exacerbated my Vocal Cord Dysfunction as a result of post nasal drainage and a terribly deviated septum. When Dr. Smith discussed with me how I could benefit from a septoplasty, I considered having the procedure, but foolishly delayed it for two years as a result of my surgical fears. Fast forward to 2023 - I decided that I needed to put aside my severe anxiety and bite the bullet and have the procedure done. In doing so, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Smith in March of 2023 and expressed my fear of surgery and worsening of my vocal cord disorder. Of all of the Physicians that I have visited over the course of thirteen years, Dr. Smith… is the ONLY one who took my concerns seriously and encouraged me without being overbearing or embarrassing me. Once I decided to have Dr. Smith perform my septoplasty, I discussed with him the possibility of adding on a rhinoplasty to correct a severe injury that I suffered as a child (to be descript, this terrible injury was the result of a childhood trauma when I took a severe blow to the middle of my face with a metal tennis racket, resulting in a terribly crooked nose). Dr. Smith ensured me that he would be able to complete both procedures within the same surgical experience and for the first time, I looked forward to the experience! On May 19th of 2023, I had my septorhinoplasty completed and IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!!!!!!!! From beginning to end, EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!! Dr. Smith is an astonishingly amazing surgeon and I can never thank him enough for performing the septoplasty that allowed me to breathe through my nose for the first time in my life (I’m 34) and for the self-esteem boost that is a direct result of the REALISTIC ARTWORK that he created when he completed my rhinoplasty. For the first time in a long, long, looooonng time, I had tears of joy from being able to breathe through my nose like a normal, functioning human being AND from not being stared at like a circus freak for the VERY NOTICEABLE trauma to my nose that I endured as a child and as an adult. The septorhinoplasty was completed in approximately four hours, I experience NO complications, and I never had even a twinge of pain (That’s right! I never filled my prescription for pain medication nor did I even need anything as minor as Tylenol)! I was back to work rather quickly and life proceeded in a much happier and comfortable direction! Overall, I am forever indebted to Dr. Smith for not only being the gifted surgeon and doctor that he is, but for also being down-to-earth, personable, and caring. Dr. Smith makes every effort to treat you like a person and his character exudes his genuine care for others. In addition to Dr. Smith’s care, Tulio A. (Preop Coordinator), Paige (RN and Support), and Reyna (RN) added indescribable value to my experience as they never failed to follow up with me to make sure that I was doing well and were available to answer any questions!

I was seen by Dr. Ryan Smith with Johns Hopkins Otolaryngology, Facial Plastics for a right ear lobe repair. I split my earlobe (which is naturally small) about 11 years ago. I haven't been wearing any kind of earrings for the majority of time since then, i very rarely wore clip-ons. I was very nervous about getting my earlobe fixed (although it's a minor procedure) but Dr. Smith and his team made my experience care free. He was gentle and made sure to ask me frequently if i was okay throughout the entire process as well as answering any questions i had. It was a quick and relatively painless procedure, i felt absolutely nothing after the area was numbed. I went back 1 week later to get my stitches removed and was again treated great by the amazing staff. My earlobe is healing beautifully and i go back to get my ear pierced in 3 months (yes!! his nurse pierces ears too, one stop shop!!). Overall, my experience was great!
