Dr. Ryan J Uitti, MD

I was so looking forward to Mayo to hopefully get some answers, whatever they may be. However, I was met with a doctor who was unfamiliar with my chart and seemed to make up his mind of his diagnosis before he even walked into the room. As soon as he heard I have anxiety, he said that was the cause of all my problems and I needed to see a psychiatrist. When we asked about my symptoms that in no way could be related to anxiety (extreme heat intolerance, frequent falls, etc.) and what would cause those he just shrugged his shoulders. He said he would refer me to endocrinology, which he never did. He couldn't wait to rush us out the door. He never asked any follow up questions about any of the problems I mentioned. He also said "if we do testing we are going to find something so I'm not going to do that." I have an abnormal brain MRI and he won't follow up to see if there have been any changes! At this point I feel like this is borderline malpractice. He does not belong in this renowned… center of excellence. He and his department should be ashamed of arrogance and gaslighting tactics.

Just a little on the expensive side, does Dr. Phil, or Dr. Oz charge this much. I truly picked the wrong profession and maybe the wrong doctor.

Seems like a nice fellow. I used him as a second opinion. He seemed a little insulted. Problematic diagnosis. “It is psycho-social.” I have been suffering with tremors and pain on my right side only. I have had dozens of doctors. Functional movements disorders, like ALS and migraines are hard to diagnosis. I tried not to be insulted myself. I left in a very upset mood (psycho social). It shows that doctors are only practicing medicine. Go with your gut. You know your body the best.

Although Dr.Utti seemed intelligent he basically told me all of my symptoms were in my head in a nice way. I was going to see him desperate because I had four Dr.s tell me I dont know whats wrong with you and one neurologist recently told me I had signs of early onset Parkinsons. I was wanting a second opinion. It seems to have bothered him that he was a second opinion. I couldnt do any of the tasks he asked me to complete in his offfice anf he dismissed all of my concerens including the obvious tremor in my left hand. He told me to see a psychatrist and start walking 10 mins a day and I would be fine. Im so disheartned.

He is not a caring , concerned physician. His error in a diagnosis of my mother almost cost her life. It was me who got her the help she needed by getting her to another physician along with a CAT scan . She had emergency brain surgery the same day as the scan results. Dr. Uitti's diagnosis of "progression of Parkinson's" was indeed incorrect. Thank God For my keeping on it and watching my mother closely and my gut that he was wrong. Be your loved one's advocate, always.

Compassionate,, patient and understanding, Dr. Uitti is one of the most professional and knowledgeable physicians I have ever met. Dr. Uitti has been treating me for Dystonia (Spasmodic Torticollis) since 2003. In 2005 I received Dual Deep Brain Stimulators, courtesy of Dr. Uitti. Through years of follow up visits he has continued to be the wonderful/personable doctor I first met.

I saw this doctor at the onset of a debilitating undiagnosed condition. Though he was thorough in his review and certainly intelligent, he had no compassion for me what so ever. I think because at that point I was still able to function rather normally despite increasing pain and disturbing symptomology, he just basically blew me off. He did not come up with a diagnosis for me which to his credit neither did any other doctor for 3 more years, but the worst part is his words he said to me that day. He said :"It is only 2010, we don't have answers to everything yet, if I were you I would quit wasting your time and money trying to find a diagnosis because there just might not be one out there yet." Very disheartening and disturbing his words often resounded with me and sought to break my resolve to keep on fighting for the answers that ultimately saved my life!

Always listens to every concern, thorough, excellent staff, follows up when needed, very concerned about my well being, remembers details from one visit until the next.

Extremely professional, competent and knowledgeable. Puts patient at ease with his manner and medical knowledge. A credit to his profession.
