Dr. Sallie G Stadlen, MD

I've been going to see Dr. Stadlen ever since I moved to Pennsylvania in 2002. I've never had a doctor care for me as well as she. She's very articulate in explaining her methods of assistance and treats me as if I'm her only patient. Dr. Stadlen never fails to greet customers with a smile. It's refreshing and comfortable to be in the hands of such a smart and experienced doctor.

Though Dr. Stadlen seemed very nice and competent during my first appointment with her, I had to wait over 90 minutes to see her. I had an early morning appointment so she could not have been that far behind and she gave me no excuse. I also was travelling to Africa under her care, and she would not listen to my questions regarding the yellow fever vaccine. Her advice was to follow the CDC recommendation, which was to consult your primary care physician to determine if the vaccine was necessary. I asked her about this during my appointment, and she neglected to give a straightforward answer. I also called her office a few times to get this matter straightened out, and again her only recommendation was to follow CDC guidelines. Nonetheless, she was not very helpful. Also, for my trip, I needed a letter listing my prescriptions and stating that they were medically necessary. I called a few weeks before I left, and then called again the week before I left. The second time I… called, her office staff could not find my request. I called again three days before I left, and the letter still had not been written. I called the following day, and still no letter. I called the day before I left saying I needed the letter that day. Thirty minutes later, the office called saying that she would not write the letter for all of my prescriptions because she did not have record of them, even though my other doctors had sent her updates, and the office staff knew my medications the first time I had called. I had to go to my one doctor's house to get a letter from him. I was utterly disappointed with Dr. Stadlen, and it has only taken me three months to realize that I never want to be under her care again.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Stadlen. She's such an intelligent, compassionate, understanding human being and a competent reassuring doctor. She really takes the time to listen and speak with patients. So yes, it takes a while to see her. I can deal with that though, because she's worth it. I do have some issues with the staff though...I hate the newer intake procedure. The question format, the way the computer system is, the fact that they have to go over every single detail of my own and family history. It's terribly uncomfortable and unnecessary for me to relate this very personal information to a nurse or staff member. From the women answering the phone or at the front desk, I've experienced (unnecessary) invasive questions, blunt borderline rudeness, and just an unwillingness to take the time to listen and answer questions, complete tasks, and resolve issues. I've observed in person that they seem bored, easily irritated, or just generally working for the… weekend; they don't seem to want to be there. Basically they're not the most competent and courteous at their jobs.

Dr. Stadlen is a great physician, but unfortunately the ladies answering the phones are not. In the fall, I had an urgent asthma issue that needed attention and after multiple voice mails they did not return my call to schedule an appointment - I needed to go to a Minute Clinic and eventually see a different doctor. A few months later, I went to schedule my routine physical, expecting to put something on the calendar two or three months out. The receptionist told me there would be nothing available for SEVEN months. I was floored and suggested that maybe they have more patients than they can handle. She replied by telling me that they did not take on any new patients last year. I found this hilarious since I became a new patient last year! Nobody likes to be lied to. I wish Dr. Stadlen all the best with her incompetent staff. I'm sad to switch doctors, but hopefully it helps those who stay with her because she is clearly overbooked with too many patients to see in a day.

She is worth the wait........

On my first and last appointment I waited 65 minutes past my appointment time. No one offered an explanation of why Dr. Stadlen was running so late. I got off the table and left the office without ever seeing Dr. Stadlen.

Dr. Stadlen is thorough, caring, listens well, asks questions and is by far one of the very best physicians that I have had the benefit of seeing during my adult life.

Dr Sallie Stadlen is the an amazing doctor. She is very caring and excellent at figuring out what is wrong and how to approach the next steps towards wellness. She knows medicine and if it is not her area of expertise she will point you in the right direction. I cannot say enough praise for this woman!

Dr Stadlen is a fantastic doctor, she takes the time to get to know you and really cares. I got her name from my pediatrician and have sent all of my friends to her. My pediatrician says all the doctors use her for their family members, she is the best kept secret ont he Main Line
