Dr. Salvatore Presti, MD

I am sure he is the best, but I was shell shocked when our pediatrician referred us to Dr. Presti for a benign heart murmur. He did a quick scan to confirm that it was, in fact, a benign heart murmur, and not to worry. Then I get a $1200+ bill for the 15 minutes we were in the office. After much back and forth, he halved the bill, but $600 to tell us something we already knew could have been better spent burning in a fireplace. We're not made of money, and despite this causing significant financial hardship when my husband had been laid off from his job, his office staff did not seem to care. They just wanted the money. Unless you have an urgent need, go with someone who can give you good medical care and has a heart when it comes to billing you.

Dr. Presti has been managing our son's health for 14 years and played a vital role in his diagnosis and treatment. He is absolutely the best in his field and fabulous at follow-up and patient management.

When we discovered a problem with my son's heart during my 20 week anatomy scan, Dr Presti saw me the very next morning in his office to do an echo and inform me of his condition, rather than me having to wait an extra few days to do it at the hospital. He is very thorough and kind. He came to see our son every day in the hospital and knowing he was in charge of overseeing our son's treatment really calmed us and gave us confidence. With all our questions he never made us feel rushed, he really takes his time. We love this man and our forever thankful that he was the cardiologist affiliated with the hospital we were in during such an anxious and uncertain time. We did get a second opinion but stuck with him and are so glad we did.

I had a fetal echo cardiogram with Dr. Presti (this is when they look at the baby's heart). He gave me some devastating news, and his bedside manner was just OK. He "explained" the situation while I was still lying on the table with my pants half way down for the echo and was continuely interrupted by his pager during the discussion. He did not explain the situation well and left me incredibly confused. I went for a second opinion and found Dr. Presti missed a very important finding in the diagnosis. His equipment is oudated. Also his assistant made a very inappropriate comment about my situation. On top of everything else I was billed $1000 for the 30 minute appointment! And the office doesn't accept credit cards. If you are going to him for a routine scan/testing I'm sure he is fine. If you need a very knowledgeable, sensitive physician I would not suggest going to him.

No sugar-coated diagnosis with a caring manner makes him one of my favorite doctors. He explained everything through and we left knowing exactly what the game plan was.

Never met with us as he said he would when he saw my child at the hospital. So stupid, made a horrible mistake. Now my child is no longer with us as a result. DO NOT trust your child with this man!!!!!

Minimal wait time before seeing doctor, took time to explain everything thoroughly in office after examining pt in exam room, would recommend.

He frankly saved my daughter's life, and did so with compassion, professionalism, and aplomb. His manner is so reassuring and professional that he actual inspires confidence, even in dark moments. He makes the difficult seem easy, and he does so in a candid, no-nonsense way. For that and more I owe him the world. And if I ever find the animal who mugged him he's going to regret the day he was born.
