Dr. Sambra Haas Bernstein, MD

2019 My visit with this doctor was horrible. She is very cruel,unkind ,witch.Do yourself a big favor and never see this doctor.Seriously!!!!

I was a little put off by all the negative reviews before my appointment, but that was not my experience with Dr. Bernstein at all. She was gentle, thorough, and attentive. She listened to all of my concerns and offered appropriate solutions. I left my appointment satisfied. The MA that works with her at the Iselin office was friendly and helpful. I am very glad to have found a new primary OBGYN I can trust after several bad experiences with different physicians. Would absolutely recommend to friends and family

I had an appointment with Dr. Bernstein yesterday. As someone who works in the medical field, I have to say despite the good reviews, this is NOT a good practice and these are NOT nice people- at least not the doctor I saw. Dr. Bernstein is a flake and has terrible bedside manner- I left sobbing from my appointment. I had an ectopic pregnancy one year ago and lost my left tube. My fiance and I want to try as soon as we get married this coming spring. We recently moved to NJ from MD and so I know I need to find a new OBGYN sooner rather than later as I am aware that I may have more fertility issues. The ER surgeon who removed my tube as well as my former OBGYN who was AMAZING told me that I should have an HSG test done prior to trying in the future just to confirm my right tube is clear as a precaution. I know even with this test and knowing my tube is cleared I could technically have another ectopic, but wouldn't you want to know if your only remaining tube was at all blocked before… trying again as a preventative measure? Dr. Bernstein told me doing this test was stupid and to just try naturally and if I didn't get pregnant, "it would obviously be blocked", in a VERY condescending manner. Losing a baby and tube is emotional and when I started to cry about how I wanted the test as I was scared it might happen again and just wanted to be cautious, she told me, "its because I must have anxiety"- not in any way comforting- she didn't even offer me a tissue. She made me feel like she didn't care about my issues or concerns. When I told her I wanted to try everything before having to try IVF, she literally said to me, "duh, doesn't everyone want to have a natural pregnancy?". I literally cannot explain in words how terrible the entire experience was. I would never recommend her to anyone and will not be going back.

Her bedside manner was terrible. It appeared that a medical student could do better pelvic exam than her. No wonder she had so many malpractice lawsuits. I switched my doctor immediately after I saw her. I did not want to give her an opportunity to punch a hole in my uterus.

This doctor has so many malpractice settlements in millions of dollars of payments made in the past five years alone. I wonder why she had such horrifying malpractice history. Did she break the neck of a baby? Even if you have chosen other doctors in the group, she may still have the chance to deliver your baby or do your surgery since this is a group practice. Pray if you happen to be under her knife although you should not expect any miracles. In fact, she cannot even perform a basic pelvic exam properly let alone doing surgery or delivering babies. Her medical education received in a Mexican school does not appear adequate. Lets hope that she will receive additional training to bring her knowledge and skills up to the standard.

Her bedside manner is horrible. Extremely rude and unprofessional. She received her education from this school: UNIVERSITY DEL NORESTE, ESC DE MED, TAMPICO, TAMAULIPAS, MEXICO. Doctors go to Mexican medical schools when they cannot get admitted into the US medical schools.

I could not get my own doctor and I needed to be seen for an infection. My primary doctor needed the results so he could put all test results together in order to get his diagnosis. As she came into the room, she was very condescending and told me that she saw no infection. She was very annoyed with me and when I asked her if she was sending the culture to a lab she stated, "What don't you understand" and slammed the door as she walked out of the room. A week later when I called for the results, she lost the specimen and I had to return to the practice for another one. This time, I saw another doctor who clearly stated that I have an infection and immediately called in a prescription. All in all, check out Mrs. Bernstein's (I will not call her Dr. because she doesn't deserve it)backgroun and see how many malpractice settlements she was involved in. That should be enough evidence.

The doctor shuffled in, looking bored and tired, paying little attention to what I was saying. She did my exam and off I went to have a mammogram. That test detected a lump, which led me to having an ultrasound. The technician for that asked, "Your doctor did an exam and didn't feel this?????" She looked at my chart to see who it was, nodded her head and looked disgusted. I made a decision to NEVER go to Dr. Bernstein again. Probably couldn't get into a med school in the states.....

Dr Bernstein has been my gynecologist for 15 years. She is thorough and professional and very personable. I would recommend her to anyone.

I had a serious procedure done in-office. Through a misunderstanding, my appointment was not scheduled appropriately. Okay, maybe I didn't explain...maybe the office staff didn't understand. These things happen. I'd never had anything but a good experience here. Then, I got Dr. Bernstein. She scolded me for 15 minutes before my procedure about the scheduling error (not my fault). I was scared. I was nervous. This was not what I needed to hear at the moment. Then, during...she continued her rant and was asking me all sorts of questions (not directly related to the activities taking place at the moment). Then, after (mind you, I'm somewhat out of it), she continues to scold me and belittle me at every turn. Thank god my girlfriend was there to fend off the attacks or I would have needed mental services after this appointment. Do yourself a favor and go to anyone but her.
