Normally prefer a female provider but Dr. Samuel was very sensitive to my concerns. Explained things and waited for feedback. Didn't rush and made sure my questions were answered. This was extremely important to me

I called the after hour line because I am on a prescription (suppository) that won’t last through the weekend because they didn’t give me enough and Dr. Campbell was the on call doctor. He was so rude when he answered the phone. He didn’t even let me explain my situation and hung up on me. Completely unprofessional! I have gone to him a couple of times and he misdiagnosed me with BV treated me for it. It took multiple visits and seeing another doctor to diagnose me with the correct bacteria.

Here is exactly how the conversation went- Dr. Sam Campbell: This is Dr. Campbell, the on call doctor. ME: Yes, this is Xochitl S-J and I had surgery Friday... Dr. Sam Campbell: If you’ve been having issues for the past 3-4 days you should have been came into the office. Dr. Sam Campbell: This line is for emergencies only. Go to the ER. CLICK. YUP! He hung up on me and told me to go the ER. So I called back explained what happened, the receptionist did not seem surprised and gave me his’ name when I asked for it. She said she could call him back again, but what’s the point? I’m so shocked by this this and for how ugly he acted, I know this is how he treats patients. I had him on speaker phone and my husband heard everything and was just as shocked!!! AVOID DR. SAM CAMPBELL OF VIRGINIA PHYSCIANS FOR WOMEN!!! My husband took me to a new Doctor but this guy DOESN'T care about his patients. I will not be back to see him.

My symptoms on the day of my visit were cramping and frequent urination. The triage nurse took a urine sample and advised me to get ready for an exam as well. When Dr. Campell came in the room he said we don't need an exam because I have a UTI and he would place me on an antibiotic and pain reliever. I was out of the office within 2 minutes. After 4 days taking my antibiotics, I still had the same symptoms with no relief. I called the office and requested a stronger antibiotic, the nurse explained that the urine culture returned negative, meaning I never had a UTI, to begin with. She stated that she will contact Dr. Campell and will call me back. When she returned my call, she said Dr. Campell is recommending that I drink more water and cranberry juice. I was confused by the fact of if I don't have a UTI, yet still having the same symptoms I've had 4 days ago why would I drink more water and cranberry juice??? He never mentioned having me come back and finally do an exam! Not to… mention that I spend a hefty copay and medicine fee and even worse, taking an antibiotic for nothing! I had the feeling he was rushing through and didn't have time to see me. I spoke to the Manager Jen Mann and she was very professional. She waved my Co-pay to see another Doctor for an immediate exam. Overall I love VPFW, but I will absolutely never see Dr. Samuel Campell again nor will I recommend him to anybody!

Dr. Campbell seemed like he didn't really know his stuff, plus he comes off as really closed minded and did not listen to my input about my condition. I will not see him again.
