Dr. Samuel Draper Weirich, MD

I had surgery on my wrist about a month ago, and was feeling very positive about my recovery. I had taken painkillers during the first week, but did not feel they were necessary after that, as I have had difficulty with these drugs in the past. My physical therapist and naturopath were very pleased with my progress, and I was generally excited to share the results with my doctor. He didn't take any measurements or make any real evaluation of my wrist, and suggested I had ruined my recovery by not taking the pain medication he prescribed. He convinced me to start taking lyrica for a period of six months. I filled the prescription, which cost $500/mo, and after reading the 5 pages of warnings (blurred vision/kidney failure/death!), I've decided not to take it. Bad doctor!

I have seen this provider 3 times for different issues. I am a health care provider and often have many and unusual questions but I always want the most conservative approach. Each time he spent the time needed to accurately diagnose my problem, explain the pros and cons of various options, listen to my preferences and answer my questions. I will always go back to him with questions related to hand problems.

This doctor was unbelievably rude to me. His manner toward me was abrupt and condescending. I think he must get a bonus for every workman's comp. claim he can deny.
