Dr. Sandra Jane Ahlum, MD

Dr. Ahlum treated me for a late miscarriage when I was 15 years old--I am 32 years old now, which should speak to the power of this review. My experience under her "care" was so unspeakably horrible... I cannot believe this woman is allowed to practice medicine. I'm sure there were some misguided religious convictions driving her treatment of me, since I was an unwed, pregnant teenager... but that was no excuse for her gross negligence and cruelty. She was cold and rude, she never expressed any support or compassion for my loss, she didn't communicate to my parents how far along I was when I spontaneously miscarried, and she sent me home to naturally pass my un-viable fetus... even though I was somewhere between 15-20 weeks pregnant by the time I miscarried. She advised me to pull tissue out of my own cervix to avoid infection (which I did to the best of my ability), and badgered me when I had to go in to have tissue blockage removed two days into the miscarriage (she essentially said… "I told you so" multiple times). Her complete disregard for my well-being, health, and safety even extended into her personal notes on my file, stating "Really, her bleeding did not sound to be excessive..." My miscarriage lasted, in total, nearly 5 weeks... dozens of towels were needed the first night because the bleeding was so severe. I've never had such an awful experience with a doctor as this, and I pray that no young woman in a similar position ever has to experience anything like I did 16 years ago, at the hands of this awful woman.

Dr. Ahlum has delivered 3 of our children, 2 natural childbirth, 1 c-section and also did my hysterectomy. She is wonderful! Very quiet demeanor, helpful, encourages questions and gives helpful advice. You can ask her anything and feel comfortable that she will give you a good answer. She is thorough and gentle. I've always received very excellent care. Love Millie at the desk too. I've been a patient for over 20 years.
