Dr. Sanjeev N Patel, MD

I liked Dr. Patel but his office staff was the worst ever. I called to get results of a test and they practically hung up on me. I tried for one week until one girl helped me. This office has the obligation and responsibility to inform patients of their results. Office staff is highly unprofessional and rude. I scheduled a follow up visit and they cancelled it a week before and told me I had to wait 4 months to come back. Unreal.

Dr Patel is a fine Dr. But I am baffled as to why he would have the rudest, most dismissive staff out there. They are unprofessional. My appt. was cancelled 3 times in 3 months. I was patient until the third cancellation. There was no understanding. I was yelled at by both women on staff. I asked to speak to the dr and was told no. I was not permitted to leave a message for the dr and was then told not to call back there and hung up on. It is because of these two women that I am no longer a patient of Dr. Patel's. The way they speak to patients is a disgrace. I also want my records transferred over to my new dr. and was told I have to pay for them! I have never encountered a staff quite like these two before.

Dr. Patel's office staff, the office manager Ileana in particular, engages in dangerously prohibitive patient-physician communication. Their level of dishonesty, dismissiveness, and hostility from the outset leaves you feeling the office staff does not want you as a patient for Dr. Patel. Which, why office staff is making such decisions when I'm a medical patient scheduling appointments for a visit with, diagnosis by, and medical procedure performed by an MD, not an office manager, is lost on me. One can only conclude that this behavior and intentional lack of communication is sanctioned by Dr. Patel himself. For starters, it's incredibly difficult to reach anyone at this office. If you call 5 times, 3 times you'll be told the person you're trying to reach will call you back, but they don't. The other 2 times no one will answer at all. Try another 5 times and maybe you'll actually reach someone. I can deal with the difficulty of reaching anyone if calls were productive when I… finally get through. They are not. My experience: I scheduled heart surgery for a partially blocked artery to be performed in approximately 10 days. When the hospital called me to confirm the pre-admission exam, I asked for information about any pre-admission requirements, specifically what heart medications I'm not supposed to take before the surgery (like blood thinners), and they informed me that information is supposed to be provided by my physician. It wasn't. I had to reach out many times to Dr. Patel's office for paperwork detailing what I need to do, eat, what medications to take or not take, etc., to prepare for the pre-admission and the actual surgery. Ileana confirmed it was mailed. I followed up multiple times to say I haven't received it yet, and each time she assured it was mailed. I asked it be mailed again since I never received it. Eventually, Ileana unintentionally confirmed it was never mailed when she advised that I just use paperwork from a previous visit. That paperwork was discarded because that date was cancelled and I didn't know what the requirements were. I explained this to her multiple times. Advising me to use old paperwork suggests she had no intention of providing me these documents now either. On yet another follow up a couple of hours before the pre-admission exam, as a patient trying to get some kind of information on what is required before I get heart surgery done, I asked her to email me the paperwork so I can get it immediately. She said she would do it while we were on a call together. She did not. When I called to to complain and requested to speak with Dr. Patel directly, Dr. Patel told me he can give me the paperwork right now. Earlier that same day, Illeana told me I did not need any paperwork, while the doctor himself was prepared to issue the prescription for the pre-admission. Is it required or not? I still don't know after countless calls. For 10 days I have been trying to get this information. Instead I was given the runaround by Dr. Patel's office until roughly an hour before my pre-admission appointment. Why couldn't this have been resolved a week ago? Why encourage me to attend an appointment unprepared and uninformed, then wait till the last possible minute to provide important information and paperwork? If this was a life and death situation, the complete lack of professionalism, honesty, and basic communication by the office manager Ileana and the rest of his staff ensures patients are risking death by choosing him as their cardiologist.

Dr Patel is very caring and explains everything thoroughly too. He is understanding and has a great bedside manner. I had a good first visit with him. He puts you at ease.

Dr. Patel is simply the best. I am so grateful for him. He is kind and empathetic and you can tell he really cares about his patients. All of his staff are very friendly and professional. Dr. Patel really went above and beyond to take good care of me and provide me with the reassurance I needed. I could not be more thankful. He is brilliant and has an excellent bedside manner. I highly recommend him to everyone.

I’m can’t be in better care dr Patel no only care of my heart condition he also take his time to explain thinks make cuestions for mi has a person ,really concerned that everything is how is supposed to be I’m wish nobody get a heart problem but if you are ,in dr Sanjeev you found knowledge,Care, friendship,compassion (plus the staff in the scale of 1to10give a 11)

Dr Patel is a warm, caring and takes time with you to explain and answer questions you might have. He has the ability to put your mind at ease. His office staff however, are rude,unprofessional and discoutious by the way they talk to you . They do not listen and do not try to help you/ take time with you especially when you call . It is a different story when you are in the office, they do not have a choice then. You call and ask if you can speak with the doctor ,and know matter what time,what day ,does not matter you can forget about ever talking to him. You never get to talk to the doctor on the phone. Which is very unfortunate because some issues can be resolved just by talking to the doctor.

Dr. Patel is one of the best cardiologists in northern New Jersey. He is professional, kind, courteous, has a great demeanor, exacting, and a great doctor. He is the kind of doctor that you can trust your life with, as I did mine !!!!!! I have recommended him to at least 15 people and each one has nothing to say other than great things about him. You will be totally satisfied with his care.

Dr Patel is a great wonderful and caring doctor. However, his STAFF SUCKS!! They are rude and nasty and they slam the phone down on you and they do not listen to what you have to say and rush you off the phone.
