Dr. Scott Andrew Hackett, MD

Have sat in the waiting room for 90 minutes at a time many times. His staff is very inept. Was there for a sinus problem and when I told him I have had a sore throat for 3 days, he would not even look at my throat. Said he doesn't look at sore throats unless you've had them for 7 days. 2 days later I'm in the ER with the worse sinus infection I have ever had. AND I was an established patient. Always seemed to blow off my concerns. I would NOT recommend to anyone.

Dr hackett is the WORST Doctor! He is rude, pushy, and right down horrible. I would not send my worst enemy to him! If you want to get screwed over an be treated like S go to him!

Dr, Hackett diagnosed me with squamous cell carcinoma at the base of the tongue. Unlike many physicians, Dr. Hackett discussed the disease, treatment options, pros and cons of each approach, and listened to me with care and empathy. If only Northside ENT were as caring and concerned as Dr. Hackett, I would recommend him to anyone. I can no longer see Dr. Hackett, because Northside ENT will not consider my insurance coverage since I was forced into changing companies in 2016 since my previous provider no longer offers coverage. What a shame.

Staff very disorganized. Dr. too eager to perform surgery.

He was my surgeon five years ago when I needed polyps removed and a deviated septum repaired. He did an. E cel lent job and my recovery was easy. I'm about to have him remove more polyps from my sinuses. I trust him completely.

I was able to schedule to get in to see Dr. Hackett very quickly but once I was there I waited an hour before being seen. My actual appt with dr. Hackett was ok but my experiences from that point on were horrible. He recommended a biopsy and an appt with an endocrinologist. Five days and 3 phone calls later I still had not been called by the pathologist to schedule the appt. The office told me they weren't sure why the pathologist hadn't called yet. I finally (after asking multiple times) was given the number so that I could call directly myself. The pathologist told me the referral had not been sent until that day which means the nurse was dishonest with me. It is now 2 weeks later and I as of yet have not heard from the endocrinologist. I called Dr. Hackett's office and was told that they tried to call the endocrinologist this morning and are not sure why he hasn't called me. The receptionist left a message for Dr Hackett's nurse to "look into this". Again...they could not… give me the name of whom I was referred to so that I could make the call myself. Long story short,.... I found out who they are recommending by calling my PCP who was sent a copy of the report at my request . Called the doctor myself and was told that referral has never been sent. Once again they were dishonest with me. They just haven't gotten around to sending the referral...even though I'm sitting at home in increasingly uncomfortable pain. The office is disorganized and does not get things done in a reasonable amount of time. And the real frustrating part is that I felt that the nurses acted as if I were asking for something more than should be expected and that I should just "chill out". They were very, very unprofessional and did not once take responsibility for their lack of follow through on my care. The nurse actually told me that I shouldn't worry about how long it took to schedule the appt because the doctor said that he didn't "think" the nodule was cancerous. I mean seriously could a person be more insensitive? Whether its cancerous or not it should take 5 days to send a referral in the case of the pathologist and now 2 working weeks for the endocrinologist. I've worked at a small hospital and we had no problem getting referrals out on the same day or by the latest the following day. I must also add that there is one or two office staff who have been very kind and helpful. The problems seems to be on the nursing level.

I have read the other reviews regarding Dr. Hackett. I did not experience any of the issues stated in previous reviews. Dr. Hackett was extremely informative, comforting and reassuring. His staff was courteous, professional, and well trained. I was so comfortable with my 2 office visits for consultation that I decided to choose Dr. Hackett to perform my Septoplasty operation. One word "Superb". Once again, I have nothing but kudos for the entire experience.

Had hearing loss and a weird noise (not ringing)in my ear. They did a hearing test and determined that I did have hearing loss. I already knew that. Dr. Hackett examined by inner ear and casually told me he thought I had a brain tumor and gave me the name/# of neurologist in town and then proceeded to walk out the door. I called him back asking what the treatment was for a brain tumor and he said something like, "uh, brain surgery" in a well duh sort of tone. I asked if there was any other option, like just learnign to live with hearing loss and not having surgery and he said I would need surgery since this type of brain tumor can cause mini strokes if the tumor gets too big. FUN! As soon as I recovered from the shock of my head having to be cut open, I started Googling and found a place called CyberKnife that can just zap the tumor with radition. No cutting my head open, shaving my head etc. A lot less messy than brain surgery with virtually no recovery time. (one of the side effects… of old school brian surgery is possible paralyzation of the face. FUN again!) Dr. Hackett NEVER mentioned CyberKnife, even though as a patient, this is defintiely something that should have been disclosed as an option. I understand that Dr. Hackett and his referral buddies aren't trained in this high-tech 21st century technlogy, but still. I had the MRI a week later and looked at the pictures myself. Couldn't find a tumor. Knew it wasn't there since I had researched these tumors all week and knew what to look for on the MRI. Since I was back to square 1 with my hearing loss, Dr. Hackett said this is just something I would have to live with the rest of my life. Wrong again! I found a chiropractor of all people who popped my neck and I immediately got a lot of hearing back in my ear. A few more pops at the chiropractor's office followed and a few months later, my hearing fully returned. I wish I would have skipped my visit to Dr. Hacket and would have rather been examined by a monkey since a monkey wouldn't have told me I had a brain tumor.

I have never been treated more poorly than I was at Northside ENT by Dr. Hackett's awful front desk staff on MULTIPLE occasions. Not only would I not recommend it, but if my family or friends had an appointment at Northside ENT I would strongly suggest that they visit Otolaryngology Associates (who are extremely friendly and accommodating) or any other Indianapolis ENT. I gave 1 star for waiting time during visit because if you are even 1 minute late to your appointment, whether you call ahead or not, Dr. Hackett's front staff will make you wait 5-10 minutes before telling the Dr and will then turn you away.
