Dr. Scott Andrew Hoffinger, MD

I am a former patient of Dr. Hoffinger. I was diagnosed with Legg-Calve-Perthes disease when I was seven years old. He was exceptionally competent and personable. He did an excellent surgery installing the plate in my left hip and later removing it on a separate date. I highly recommend him.

After multiple bad experiences with our local orthopedic surgeons, one other horrible referral to UCSF and a year of waiting while my sons leg was growing more and more crooked by the day. I was finally referred to Dr. Hoffinger. He is just amazing, wonderful bedside manner, always kind and willing to answer any questions we had. My whole experience with Dr. Hoffinger is a 5 star experience. This was 7 years ago and my son has never had any further problems with his injury, he plays multiple sports and is growing normally. I thank Dr. Hoffinger for that!

My daughter is 3 years old, and has been under this man’s care for a year and a half, and will probably be under his care until adulthood. We came to him for a 2nd opinion on the treatment for her condition, and never looked back. My daughter has a very rare condition, which often results in an amputation of the leg. But this man is saving my baby’s leg. He plays with her at every visit- almost always getting a smile from her. He takes time to explain any differences he sees in her x-rays, which have never been more than 3 months apart. He takes the time to listen to my concerns, and answers my endless flow of questions. He considers me part of the team tasked with healing my daughter- and that is EVERYTHING to me. He even took the time to coordinate with a doctor across the country, and bring in help to assist with a rare surgery that he thought would benefit my child. 10 weeks post-surgery, she is doing awesome. Dr. Hoffinger is so amazing, he has my complete trust, and undying… gratitude. I’m incredibly thankful that we found him, and that he is leading my child’s care. If anyone can help my child walk normally, and just live a regular life like any other kid, then this is the guy- right here. But the way, I rarely have to wait for x-rays or cast removals- but sometimes I have to wait in our room for a bit to see him. But I don’t care. He’s worth the wait time, and the 2-3 hour drive. Amazing.

My son had surgery on his hip and femur several years ago. The operation and rehab was flawless and his outcome was fantastic. Dr. Hoffinger is one of our most trusted doctors, and his new facility in Emeryville makes for a much easier visit than the overcrowded clinic at Children's Hospital in Oakland

Dr. Hoffinger was thorough in diagnosing my daughter's condition. He was very patient and supportive with explaining our daughter's condition. The staff is very friendly and they all remember the patients names. However the wait time is rather long but the knowledge he brings is invaluable.

Hoffinger thinks he knows everything and feels he knows all the answers to life. He is very ego driven and very insensitive to children and their parents if they do not agree with him. Frankly he is a jerk.

Dr. Hoffinger was very good with our 8-year old and was also very good at explaining his condition and what we were seeing on the x-ray. The new Children's Hospital Facility in Walnut Creek, CA was also wonderful. We have yet to have a follow up visit, but we are very pleased so far.
