Dr. Scott Steven Katzman, MD

Speaking for tailbone removal (coccygectomy), I highly recommend Dr Katzman and his team. They did an amazing job! Recovery time was literally two weeks. My daughter feels completely pain free (off the pain meds after one week) for the first time in four years. Her orthopedic specialist was very discouraging of a coccygectomy, even though she's young and healthy (now 18). I don't know how this surgery would have worked out with a general orthopedic surgeon, but I can say my daughter and I are SO grateful we decided to have Katzman's team operate on her. LIFE CHANGING.

When I was 20 years old I fell off of a ladder, roughly 10 feet in the air, directly on my tailbone. This injury would dictate how I lived my life for the next 23 years. Countless injections, radio frequency ablations, years of physical therapy, minor and major surgical procedures…even a lumbar fusion in 2009 that only partially corrected the numerous issues with my spine. That one fall changed everything about how I would live every day. (Pictures of my spine before the bi-level TLIF attached to the review.) Fast forward to this past summer... My wife, who was suffering from a collapsed disc from when she was in labor, had just had a lumbar fusion performed by Dr. Schiebert. (I myself was scheduled to have a similar back procedure with a different surgeon in August.) After seeing her incredibly fast recovery from the TLIF surgery, I decided to get a second opinion from NJ Spine. To give some backstory, my original lumbar fusion in 2009 took me about a year to fully recover. (L5-S1)… The incision alone from this archaic procedure needed 27 staples to close. To compare, my wife’s incision was barely 2 inches and she was driving two weeks after her procedure with Dr. Schiebert! I was floored. Dr. Katzman reviewed my MRI and CT scans and advised that I have a bi-level TLIF performed. For the next 5 months, Ethan and his team from NJ Spine fought with my insurance to get the procedure approved. On December 11, Dr. Katzman finally got his chance to solve the puzzle that was my lower spine. After a four hour procedure, I can honestly say that all of my previous pain is completely gone. It’s a strange feeling when you wake up one morning and the pain you have been experiencing for 23 years is no longer there. To Dr. Katzman, Ethan and the whole team at NJ Spine, thank you for giving me my life back!

I’ve had two surgeries with this practice which also goes by a new name. Dr Katzman was so pose to take care of me but for some reason I was referred over to Dr Douglas Slaughter instead. My story is much more than this comment, my story belongs in a court of law explaining how Dr Douglas Slaughter destroyed my life via surgery I’ve been trying to contact the practice specifically Dr Katzman who was so pose to take care of of me however for some reason he will not respond nor will Dr Slaughter his last comments were “ go to pain management I’m certainly not going to perform anymore surgery on you I can’t help you”. I should have dug deeper into Dr Douglas, it was only after the damage was done that I found out via a patient sent me newspaper articles of damage he did to other patients which were publicized from another state. The only communication I’ve received was a voicemail from someone claiming to be the CEO, he left me a voicemail saying, this never should have happened… nobody should have to live with this kind of pain, what can we do for you? I listen to it every so often I have tried to contact him back but no response. This practice needs to be ACCOUNTABLE for their actions they’ve ruined my back and caused pain that I can barely live with. Dr Slaughter and Dr Katzman, I cannot imagine how you live with yourselves how you sleep at night. I cannot sleep more than an hour without waking up with incredible pain that drives me insane. I am married with children and grand children who I cannot enjoy because of the quality of life that drastically changed after my last surgery. I was wheelchair bound immediately after surgery, it made no sense according to Dr Slaughter my PT and more. THIS PRACTICE IS DANGEROUS in my opinion. It’s disgraceful the fact that they make a commitment and the leave you to suffer!! H Al Kalish

This guy should not have a medical license. It was an obvious scam and fraud in 2015 in Palm Beach, Fl when I went to him for a second opinion. I left his office horrified at what I saw. I returned to Ft Lauderdale and had epidural shots performed by a competent Dr. Now he has relocated in another state. Do yourself a favor and do your homework when researching a Dr.

I was sent to Dr Scott katzman's office for surgery for a lower back injury I received on the job buy workman's comp turn off. In short he did not help me at all my back pain is actually worse now than it was before the surgery Dr katzman was rude and unhelpful in the year after the surgery threw out all my appointments at times he would disappear from the office when I went to see him and that would be seen by a nurse practitioner when I expected to see him. He was never honest with me once never explain my situation to me fully I said one thing on one office visit and contradicted himself in the next office visit reported to the workman's comp people information that didn't match anything that he told me and after three and a half hours of physical therapy that he prescribed for my condition he said I was completely done and I didn't need anything else even though to this day I can't walk or stand on my own without excruciating pain to my lower back he told me point-blank that I may… never be able to walk or stand without paying again these are the last words that he told me he said. Unless you enjoy your back pain stay away from dr. Scott katzman with me he was very rude and often erratic in his behavior I don't know how to interpret it but it seems to me that he has issues in his personal life that are affecting his professional life I don't know stay away from this doctor at all cost

Dr. Katzman wa suppose to do an acdf with corpectomy. I did not want a plate so he said he would use spacers. No mention that this would hinder the success and completion of the operation. He then proceeded to write that I was aware of this, that I demanded this, that I was told about this. He goes on and on lying and also edited the consent form "after" I signed it. Really dishonest not trustworthy at all. I am seeking legal help at this time. I am suffering veryday.

I contacted dr Katzman regarding surgery, I ended up with dr Douglas slaughter twice and he has ruined my way of life. Now I find out he has negligent cases against him “see online” I was contacted by the apparent CEO who left a voice mail saying I never should have had this horrible experience and “ Nobody should have gone through what I did”. He said dr Katzman was on vacation and they both would call me back in a week, that was approx two months ago. Beware dealing with this practice It’s dangerous in my opinion as well as others whom are suing them I’ll see them and particularly dr Slaughtet in Court

I re searched dr Katz man an asked for his services an ended up with dr slaughter an had a terrible experience. I am in worse shape than prior to two surgeries from this practice. Being ignored from original request of dr Katzman was far from a good experience

I've had back pain, which radiated into my hip and leg, for years. I woke up every morning with back pain. I found Dr. Katzman's website and got an MRI for him to review. He called and told me he could fix my problem. I have to admit to having some doubts, but with the possibility of being free of pain, I scheduled the surgery with Mountain Surgery Center in West Orange, NJ. Everything was handled expertly and personally the day of my surgery, and Dr. Katzman was great. I woke up from surgery with no pain and walked out of the surgery center that night feeling good. That was theee weeks ago and every morning when I wake up with no pain, I still can't believe it. If you are considering having Dr. Katzman review your MRI to see if he can help you, don't put it off. I can say without hesitation that this was the best decision I have ever made, and I highly recommend Dr. Katzman.
