Dr. Scott T. Mcknight

Dr. McKnight was professional and knowledgeable when I met him at my consultation appointment. His staff was as well. I scheduled a date for him to perform a surgery called a Robotic Sigmoid Colectomy to treat me after having repeated cases of diverticulitis for years. Dr. McKnight and the staff at Memorial Hermann were amazing. This was a pretty big surgery for me (twelve inches of my large intestine were removed), but my pain after the surgery was minimal and my recovery went really well. Dr. McKnight always patiently listened to my questions and took the time to answer them. It’s three months later and I can eat all of the foods that I had been avoiding for years, and I’m back to my normal work and gym schedule! This surgery has literally changed my life and I feel so much better. I am forever grateful to Dr. McKnight and would highly recommend him to others. He is truly a skilled surgeon is his field.

I was referred to Dr McKnight due to a colon cancer diagnosis he was apprehensive at first about accepting me as a patient because of my weight but he decided to take me on and for that I'll forever be grateful the staff and Dr McKnight they were very comforting very professional. Although it was a rough experience for him the outcome was great I will forever be grateful for his expertise I am currently healing great and feeling awesome day by day.. I would recommend him to anybody who is going through the same or similar situation...

Dr. McKnight was knowledgeable, gave reassurance leading up to my surgery, and answered all of my questions leading up to the surgery as well as post-op. He was kind, compassionate, and professional. I'm so thankful for the care I received.

I’ve been in and out of G.I. doctors offices for years now. My consultation with Dr. McKnight today was the first time I felt like a physician ever 1)looked at the medical timeline I had created, 2) asked detailed questions and 3) drew out diagrams and wrote handwritten reminders for me about things he’s considering for my diagnostic procedures to r/o surgical intervention. I was impressed with his staff and the time given to me. I’ve read some older reviews and am commenting here now, as I truly think that the office staff has been working towards the highest quality care! Highly recommend.

Dr. McKnight's skill during my difficult colectomy kinda made me believe in miracles. He was thorough, kind and amazing!

Went to him for a colonoscopy as my father had died of same and I was having issues. I told him of them but he not only did not list them on my progress notes and scheduled the procedure for 3.5 months away but was far more focused on staring at his computer and I-pad while standing up as if he was in a hurry. His focus was only centered on my entry that I was 'single' rather than 'divorced' and when pressed for further clarity, he then asked how many times I had been married. ??? He is a jerk.

Dr. McKnight performed robotic laparoscopic surgery on me recently and it went perfectly. He is very gifted and personable. During my stay in the hospital post surgery every single person on staff without exception would rave about him when I told them who my Dr. was. That's pretty remarkable considering I must have interacted with a couple of dozen hospital employees during my stay. Dr. McKnight genuinely cares for his patients and makes them feel comfortable in his care.

As a surgical patient, you know you are in excellent hands when several of the Memorial Hermann hospital nurses tell you that you have the “best surgeon,” and if they should ever need surgery, “will choose Dr. Scott McKnight.” I thank God for Dr. Scott T. McKnight and the excellent care I received for my robotic-assisted sigmoid colectomy. There is a significant difference between good and great outcomes for a successful surgery, healthcare, and one’s optimum health. What’s more, no one looks forward to colon surgery. Dr. Scott T. McKnight is a great surgeon. He communicated clearly, prepared me with proper expectations, phoned me to answer further questions after our initial appointment, and even prayed with me before surgery. By God’s grace and the excellent care I received, I walked out of the hospital 48-hours after my sigmoid colon was removed. Dr. McKnight trains other surgeons in advanced robotic-assisted surgery, which also speaks to the quality and excellence of his skill. I… am evidence of the benefits for the patient with advanced robotic-assisted surgery, which are: less invasive surgery, reduced surgical impact on one’s body, shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery. Therefore, the best descriptor I can use for Dr. Scott McKnight is GREAT.

I went for colonoscopy, and a cancerous mass was found in my Sigmoid colon. Dr. McKnight was recommended at UT Physicians. I went and saw him about a week after I was diagnosed with Colon cancer. He explained exactly what he wanted to do, and explained exactly how much time he thought I would be in the hospital, and it was all perfect. he is the best surgeon, and I highly recommend him to anyone with colon cancer. I went for surgery on Wednesday morning, and I was released Friday morning to go home. I returned to work a couple of weeks later, and I feel great, and I have no cancer anymore, that they can find. He was cautious, and removed 19 Lymph nodes , and none of them contained any cancer, Dr. McKnight saved my life, and i am so appreciative. He listens well, and explains everything that he does. His follow up after surgery was great, overall great experience.. Thank you Dr Scott McKnight !!!!!

I have never in my life been to a more rude Doctor than Doctor McKnight. I’m not sure if he was having a bad day or what but I had left this doctors appointment in tears. He not only continuously mentioned my weight but also made me feel stupid for asking clarifying questions. Doing this examination brought back horrible memories and anxiety but the way Dr McKnight spoke to me after this examination was almost worse than the examination itself. I was referred to Dr McKnight by my OBGYN and I feel as if he never even read why I was referred to him in the first place. He made that clear by telling me he doesn’t do those types of surgeries and I need to be referred to a different doctor. I was going by the recommendation of my OBGYN to see Dr McKnight. I did not come on my own accord but was made to feel very much out of place. When asking about another problem I was having he very rudely and sternly said, “Why are you here? You came in for one problem but you’re talking about a… completely different problem.” I explained that when I counseled with his fellow I had mentioned both problems. I don’t know if there was a breakdown in communication between him and his fellow or me and Dr McKnight but I felt very much out of place and that my concerns I was experiencing were not something he wanted to deal with. He mentioned my weight more than 4 times and that if I lose weight all of my problems would go away. He never once asked me the types of food I ate, what my diet was like or what my stools looked like. He just saw my weight and stereotyped me as someone who ate particularly unhealthy. The recommendations he had mentioned were something I had already been doing despite my many different weight changes. The problems I had been having is something I have been dealing with for many many years. But he never discussed with what I was doing or what I have been doing to better help my gut health he just assumed the worst. When I asked him more clarifying questions about my problems and asked if surgery was something that could be used to help me he proceeded to tell me that, “this is a horrible surgery and if you want to be in the worst pain in your life,” he could do it but that but, “You just need to lose weight” instead because he doesn’t want to do this type of surgery on a 33 year old. I misunderstood what I was dealing with as he didn’t explain properly to me about my concern. I misunderstood because he didn’t take the time to explain things properly and when I asked questions I was made to feel very much stupid and he gave me very snide remarks on managing my weight or that if I had surgery that I would be in the worst pain in my life. I understand Dr McKnight does this day in and day out. But I am a new patient, someone who is not familiar with the process and procedures. You would think he would take the time to explain and would want to make a good impression on a new patient so that when they are having more “severe” problems they would feel welcomed to come back. Instead I was made to feel very much unwelcome and that my problems were not something he deals with or something that was that “severe” despite the referral from my Doctor. I will not be going back to Dr McKnight and I couldn’t in good conscience recommend him to anyone else.
