Dr. Selim R Benbadis, MD

Dr Benbadis and his staff are very thorough, take time with the patients and explain everything so that you can understand. We drive over an hour past many closer neurologists office to see Dr Benbadis. We are very satisfied with the level of care received.

I’m leaving Dr. B. He’s been my neurologist for over three years and wouldn’t know me if we passed on the street. My last VEEG he “forgot” to tell me I had seizure activity in my sleep during and casually asked me “what did we ended up doing about that?” six months later. He never reads my chart and it’s like I’m a brand new patient every time I come in. He screws up my prescriptions constantly. It got to the point where eventually I, a grown a** woman, starting bringing my mother with me to appointments to confirm his incompetency because he is extremely bullheaded and refuses to admit any mistakes. Which is ironic since I truly have never had a doctor in my life who made so many. I’m not a complex case. God help anyone who sees him who is.

I was a patient of his, I started to develop seizures in my early 20s in college at USF. All he did was throw meds at it. Never ran any tests, never tried to figure out why or where they were coming from. No PET scans, 5day/ambulatory EEGs, nothing. Just would switch my meds around. I finally switched to another neurologist who actually took the time to not just find what medication worked for me but actually to find out where they were coming from and why. A doctor who doesn’t take time to properly assess his patients or ask the most basic question of “why?” Shouldn’t be teaching other physicians.

He was very abrupt, didn't take any time to listen to concerns, left personal information laying around. He is self centered and rude..

I got a right temporal lobectomy with Dr. Benbadis, and Dr. Fernando Vale. There wasn't enough testing done and they removed the wrong piece of brain causing my seizures to get worse!! I was dropped as a patient shortly after. I asked for a referral to another neurologist and he said "that isn't my job." Surgery is not safe here.

He didn't spend enough time with explaining my diagnostic, also he's not a patient or caring Dr...

USF/Tampa Neurology work together, and appear to be pretty good. Nevertheless, the time with doctor is very short and he is not to patient oriented for 28 years.

Bedside manner sux... but really do you want a dr that treats you like a child or one that gets the job done? Im a patient of his. He does what he is specialized for. Doesn't sugar coat anything. He listens that matters i didnt want to be treated like a child the man knows his stuff better then any other neuroligist i know. He isnt for the money he in it to help you if YOU want it. I've had drs all my life since young and finally found one that does want to find solutions and not dope me up. Bottom line he is on high demand if u get him good be patient his staff is awesome so is his team.
