Dr. Sergio Giovanni Perossa, MD

Be careful if you ever want to appoint Dr. Perossa as your family doctor and have him do your annual physical examination, because it can easily turn your free exam into a costly out-patient visit WITHOUT your awareness NOR consent by simply discussing any minor health concern you might have when he asks you, as if he cared about your health, "do you have any concern in your health recently?". On may 9th, 2025, I went to Village Medical -Riata Ranch facility to have my annual checkup done which is supposed to be 100% covered by the insurance. He not only showed up half an hour late, but also was completely ignorant about the topics on longevity supplements. When I politely shared my knowledge on that with him, his response was "oh would that make you live forever?" Then he started to perform some routine checkups, and then in the end, he casually asked if I have any other concern about my health. I took that as a good gesture from my family doctor about my general health, so I… shared with him my recent experience of getting bitten by some unknown insect on my left arm which had some remaining effect of causing numbness and weakness. It turned out that literally triggered the trap. In two weeks, I found out from the bill they sent to me, they billed that casual conversation toward out-patient visit without my consent. When I communicated this weird billing to Village Medical, their response was doctor could not refuse to provide diagnosis, when the truth was it could be so easy to alert me of the consequence before the doctor actually performed any so-called diagnosis which was merely ask me to stretch my arm for several times and then ordered a referral. Another important note about this doctor was that when my examination blood test result was out, it took him over 10 days to provide his advice even when i proactively asked him for advice right after the result was out. However, he and his team were so proactive on following up with me about the referral when I didn't act on it because I don't think my left arm was so serious as to require specialist check. Here is my conclusion, this doctor and his team, or even possibly the entire Village Medical is a money scouter instead of a genuine health care provider as they apparently care about things like billing, REFERRAL where I believe referral bonus would be present, way more than our health. Their level of professionalism is completely out of whack, because they don't even know some codes previously covered in the annual checkup were no longer covered since 2023 due to change in CDC guidance, and still prescribed that in my blood test and then put the charge on me. Sorry about the length of this story, but just tried to share my bad experience so that fewer patients would fall into their trap.

Dr. Perossa has always had the best bedside manner of any doctor I have had. He listens patiently and shows genuine concern for me.

Truly cares about his patients.

Wonderful doctor when he discovered a blood pressure problems he called and got me in to a cardiologist that same day. The personal touch is unheard of these days except with Dr Perossa.

Doctor Perossa is a nice enough guy, but his staff is horrible. They are rude, incompetent, and generally annoyed at the very presence of disgusting sick people.

If you do not mind waiting for over an hour every time you need to see a Dr. then this is the guy. He is average and not worth the wait.

From the time I walk into his office, to the time I walk out, my experience is great. Dr. Perossa has very good bedside manners, and can put you at ease when you come in highly stressed. He spends time with you, not rush in - rush out. He speaks to you not at you, and explains everything.
