Dr. Seth Waldman, MD

Refuses to even see people in pain who present with CRPS; shocking that the chief of the pain dept at this major hospital neglects people suffering with the most painful condition of all.

Dr. Waldman is not only at the top of his field, but he's kind, thorough, patient, and an authentic person. Can't recommend him highly enough!

Amazing doctor and amazing bedside manner.

He doesn’t communicate. He never follows up. And, he was of no Medical assistance for my condition whatsoever. And, he quite clearly didn’t care.

This is my 3rd year as his patient and he is amazing. He is one the reasons I remain living in NYC, and if he left I would travel to see him. I am a 'complex patient' with a number of incurable and degenerative chronic conditions, including some rare ones and some I have had for 10+ and 15+ years. He has repeatedly gone above and beyond to ensure appropriate diagnoses and treatments, and referred me to other Drs when its beyond his scope. He explains things well, he listens to what I say, and he actually CARES! He is not biased by my age which other doctors have been. He is the only Dr who has managed to actually improve some of my pain. He is in high demand though, and very busy, so I book my appointments early and if I don't hear back on a call or message I just follow up again.

Rarely do I write a review but, rarely, if ever have we experienced such a lack of follow up on behalf of a doctor. We were able to make an initial appointment relatively easily and during our first visit, we felt like we were with a wizard who would be able to help alleviate and manage my husband's ongoing pain. As he had prior treatments before we went to Dr. Waldman, we had to collect prior records. Now, we know that the prior hospital took longer than one hoped, we heard NOTHING from Dr. Waldman. First his assistant told us, it was on his desk and he would call us in a few days. Two weeks later we call again and are told that the report was long and he is thorough so takes his time to read this. Three weeks later we had our referring physician contact him and he said he would be getting back to us. That was three weeks ago. Today I called and asked for our records as my husband has not heard from Dr. Waldman and obviously must be seen by someone else as he is pain. She never… apologized for the delay, she simply said she would mail the records today. Let's see if that happens. Shocking from someone who presents himself so professionally and represents one of the finest facilities in the country. Simply shocking and totally unprofessional....if he is too busy, don't accept new patients.

This is the only back/neck pain doctor I've found (and I've seen many) who was honest, ethical, patient, more knowledgable, with more skill/expertise than ANY of the others. He's the best.

Its hard to believe that patients would judge Dr. Waldman to be arrogant. I have found him to be among the most personal of doctors that I have ever met. His bedside manner is caring, attentive, and, perhaps above all else, he actually listens. He has explained my condition with great patience and in amazing depth. He is professional but never arrogant. Great doctor. My only criticisms are: 1) that he doesn't follow up after procedures (How are you feeling? Is the pain any better? etc) and 2) whether because of his own shortcomings as an administrator or the complexity of the HSS, there have been snafus whereby I have ,made wasted trips to downtown Manhattan without treatment (errors in treatment schedules).

To say that Dr. Waldman should have been an attorney is too kind. He is unethical! Dr. Waldman refused to diagnose my CRPS early and treat it aggressively, so that I might have had a chance for remission. Instead, he choose to protect his HSS colleague from a lawsuit, as I was not treated in a timely manner. Lesson we'll learned, if you are experiencing pain after surgery performed by an HSS doctor, seek treatment elsewhere! Dr. Waldman made sure that I was left crippled and in pain. Thanks Dr. Waldman, I think of you daily!

This guy is extremely smart and does know his stuff. He does a great intake and promises the world. He has no follow up and doesn't get invested in his patients. He is way too busy with his hospital work to actually care for his patients. I am amazed that the hospital for special surgery lets him practice. This hospital has become a money making machine and has lost its way. It is a shame. I used to brag about this place. Dr. Waldman might be the worst human doctor around. He has set me back years mentally after giving me the run around.
