Dr. Sevak T Ohanian, MD

I have never in my life (I'm 66) taken the time to write a review of a physician but after seeing some of the posted reviews, I feel the need to do so. Dr. Ohanian is an extremely caring and brilliant doctor who has always shown sincere concern for me and has always listened intently when I spoke with him. I can assure you that if you had the privilege of having this gentleman treat you for any neurological issues, you will be treated appropriately, effectively and with professionalism.

Clearly has his own agenda. Doesn't want to really listen to symptoms or description of events. Wanted to argue that strokes and TIA's don't cause "confusion"....really? Where did you get your medical license?????? Maybe needs a refresher course on signs of Stroke, TIA, seizures and migraines......

Office is clean and the staff members were nice during check-in and work-up. The physician is a different story! During the very short period of time he saw me, all he wanted to do was ask questions and get short responses. He continuously interrupted me and spoke to me in a condescending manner anytime I tried to explain my symptoms and what has changed since onset of episodes. I was so upset, I started crying and walked out, which is something I've never felt the need to do. You and your physician are supposed to be partners in your healthcare - he made it clear that I wouldn't be able to achieve this with him. If you want a physician that is caring and will listen to you, I highly suggest that you look elsewhere. I've worked in the medical field for 10 years and have never encountered such an uncaring physician.

Dr. Ohanian seemed to be a competent neurologist, but his staff ruined any chance of us returning to him in the future. One receptionist, Valarie, was repeatedly sarcastic and unwilling to work with us on coordinating for the MRI that had been ordered- and after the imaging was completed, she refused to assist us in expediting a follow up appointment. It took 7 weeks to get the MRI done, then she wanted us to wait another 2 weeks to have to results reviewed. I would suggest avoiding this office, if at all possible.

I faxed Dr. Ohanian asking for his help with getting an in-home psychological assessment for my mom, his long time patient. A week went by and I had not heard anything back. I called his office to get an update, and I was told by a medical assistant that he could not help, and he had been out of town, and the bad weather prevented his response. I felt like he was making up excuses to justify his lack of concern.

The staff has made it very unpleasant for me a few times. I will not continue to go here because of that. I went to the ER two days in a row due to my headaches. By the time we could reach them, they didn't not sound concern. They told my husband that they already tried to fit me in and couldn't fit me in til 2 weeks. I felt like a number to them. Prior to the ER I tried calling them so many time and end up calling the on call physician because I was having an allergic reaction and the physician's response was "I don't know, you would have to call your doctor."

Very good Doctor

I have gone to Dr. Ohanian for many years and always have found him to be very professional and caring about my particular issues. I would certainly recommend Dr. Ohanian for all your neurological needs.
