Dr. Sevitlana Safaei, MD

Dr. Safaei is competent and focused. She listens to the health problem and comes up with alternative ways of ameliorating it. She is personable and always asks if I have any other questions or if I need more information. She has ordered followup tests and her nurse calls me with the results and gives me any further instructions. I feel very safe in her hands and appreciate her followup.

Dr Safaei is a bit cold. When I tried to talk with her about my condition she was cold & gets a bit angry if you ask questions. 6+ years on Medicare & I have never complained about any doctors I have had. Her bedside manner is cold, she is ready to snap or bite my head off. It was a like having no doctor. I'm so happy it's over & I now have a lovely new doctor. I am a strong woman. But I do not do well with anyone that is cold & quick to anger. Her abrupt personality is noticed by many. I am an extremely appreciative person. I was absolutely thrilled to get a new doctor to replace her. I'm so grateful to have a caring doctor now that actually listens to me and is kind & a great doctor. Thx for listening as I wasn't sure I should write this review, I don't like being negative but thought it might help someone out there. Bob

For years, Dr. Safaei was my mother's primary care physician. In my opinion: Is Safaei a capable MD? Yes. Does she come across as arrogant and with a lack of compassionate bedside manner? Also yes. Most importantly, is Safaei responsive to patient needs? Absolutely not. Latest example? I recently left her two urgent messages regarding hospice care for my mother, and she didn't provide the professional courtesy of even returning either of my phone calls during this difficult time-even after several days. I also have multiple other examples of why you wouldn't want Safaei to treat you or your loved ones. Bottom line, there are many amazing doctors in the Hoag Network and I strongly recommend that you explore those other doctors.

Honestly, came across as cold, critical and hard to connect with on a professional doctor patient relationship level. As a patient I need to believe the doctor is truly concerned and listens without judging, is highly motivated to help me and instead I left feeling analyzed by the way she would look at me as if she did not believe what i was saying and I was telling the truth of what I was experiencing to help her. No matter how good a doctor is education wise, it is their compassion, honest listening , warmth and non judgmental people skills that make them excellent and memorable. I felt very uncomfortable and I really did not want to.
