Dr. Shanker Narayan Dixit, MD

I’m posting this on Vitals to flag major administrative issues at Dr. Dixit’s office that interfered with my ability to get timely care. Over the course of a full week, I called the office multiple times and got no call-backs and no meaningful follow-through on the insurance steps needed to process the referral. Meanwhile, my insurance carrier also called the office three times regarding the referral and received no response each time. I eventually escalated to Alejandra (supervisor). Although she acknowledged the situation, supervisory involvement did not fix the underlying problem: the office remained slow to respond and seemed to treat an urgent referral like it was optional. The staff’s overall attitude came across as indifferent, even as the delay continued. What this really means is simple: if you choose this practice, be prepared to chase them for basic administrative tasks that directly affect access to care. When it’s an urgent neurology referral, delays like this aren’t… just frustrating, they are unacceptable. I recommend finding an office that reliably returns calls, coordinates insurance/referrals, and treats time-sensitive medical needs with the seriousness they require.

NOT VETERAN FRIENDLY!!! If this office is suggested as a part of the VA community care, do NOT make an appointment with them. I waited 5 weeks to be seen only to be refused care because I misplaced my VHID card, and they said my DD214 wasn't good enough in order to be seen. Excuse me? A DD214 is definitive proof of my service, and they refused to accept it? Who does that? Then they tried to claim the reason I couldn't be seen was because they didn't have the referral. That is a flat out lie. If they didn't have the referral, I wouldn't have been able to make the appointment in the first place. Especially when they had all my other information! Any Veteran that is told they can't be seen if they don't have their VHID needs to tell the provider they are not allowed to refuse service because a VHID card is not a health insurance card. It has never been a requirement to receive care. They argued with me and claimed it's their "policy". They also never informed the VA community… care of their "policy". That is absolutely unconscionable. Who refuses to serve Veterans when we served our country? Who does that?!? Fellow Veterans, stay away from this provider. I'm also going to be filing a complaint with Tri-West about this and to see about having them removed from the community care system. Don't treat Veterans like this!

I've gone here before, a couple years ago, he didn't help me then, and didn't help me now. I've developed some weird problem where electronics, like my phone and computer, hurt me. Hurts to even write this. NO doctor will help me, or even make an attempt to. I researched it myself, found several medical journals where it says my condition is a neurologic problem, so I make an appointment. Last night, the pain was so bad it put me in Urgent Care. He refuses to see me, in fact he has some dumb rule now where he only sees new patients, even though my problem is new. His assistant had no clue what i was talking about, refused to help me, refused to research or look in to it, plus the doctor refused to see me. I literally drove home in tears because no one will help me, or even care. I literally hold out my phone to show his assistant the journal article, saying its neurological, like please look, she refuses to look or care. I feel like I'm dying and no one will care to help me. Being nice… has got me nowhere with this office, and so now I'm a mess. Do not go here if you need a doctor to do some real doctor stuff.

Busy with technician in the room to the point that forgot about me on the bed and my pain, no eye contact, no empathy what so ever he ended up prescribing an antidepressant med for numbness in my foot. He is a bad news.

2 THUMBS UP!!! Dr. Dixit is a stand-up guy and an EXCELLENT physician. Great bedside manner. I've been to the office several times now, and each time has been a stellar experience. The staff is friendly. The doctor is always PROMPT (little to no waiting time), the office is clean, and the service overall is wonderful. Dr. Dixit is top notch - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you make an appt. with him. He'll take good care of you. Truly! A+++++++

This Dr. Dixit is the rudest doctor I have ever encountered. His bedside manner is poor. My mom had a visit with him, and he gave her diagnosis after talking to her 5 minutes. He didn't explain anything, ask if we had questions or anything. He just said, I will give a the prescription and then said see my PA. I have never encountered a doctor with so little empathy and patient care.

Dr Dixit’s office runs like a fine tuned machine very efficient!! Dr Dixit is patient, kind and compassionate. The only slight drawback was I had to wait 45 min until the doctor saw me, but it’s never been longer than that so I’m happy. Thanks, Kimmie

He spent less than 5 minutes, asked very few questions and rushed and shorted my EMG. He abruptly leaves the room without explaining anything or saying goodbye. Strangest, worst, most disturbing doctor's appointments I've ever had. I ended up in the hospital unable to walk a few weeks later. My disease was easily identifiable by the hospital neurologist. If I had had treatment earlier I wouldn't be as disabled as I am now due to damaged nerves.

These people are terrible. I have to wait on hold upwards of 10 minutes just to speak with someone, and then nothing. Time to request new prescription and nothing. Pharmacy never gets anything. Call back the next day, same song and dance. It's now been a week of calls, each with at LEAST 10-15 minute holds as people check with whoever it is they're checking with and still nothing. Now I'm waiting for a manager to call me back. Yeah right. There is no way that this place cares for its patients one bit. A simple prescription refill is a nightmare. Never in my life have I been treated this way, and this is not the first time I've had issues with this office. I'm done. The care I get is rushed, uninformed, and lacks any personal touch whatsoever. My GP can do anything these people can do but much better. By the way, I've only seen Dr. Dixit one time in the years that I've been coming here. ONCE. I'm not even sure the dude is even at this office anymore. If they make this right I'll update… this review, but until then, beware. This office is a freaking nightmare.

Dr. Dixit was nice enough at first. When we refused a study to have a brain stimulator put into my husband's head he never saw him again. From that point on when ever we had an appointment the PA was who saw him. Rachel was every rude always. The office staff was ok but very slow. The office manager NEVER returned my calls and the person who does prescriptions does not know whats going on. The last time I called for a refill she told me Dr. Dixit had never prescribed that medication for my husband. I had to call the pharmacy and ask them to call the doctors office and verify that he has.
