Dr. Shari B. Goldfarb, MD

I am the author of a tell-all book on healthcare “ What Your Doctor Won’t(Or Can’t) Tell You.” I have appeared on CNN and Today show to advise people on how to get good care. I also send all my friends and family to Dr. Goldfarb. She is kind and brilliant and a great patient advocate. She works with a great team. One case I sent had pathology incorrectly read that would have created unnecessary and scarring treatment. Dr. Goldfard is someone I unconditionally recommend.

After 8 years at MSK with Dr. Shari Goldfarb, I'm still here and happy! Dr. Goldfarb and I have a special, honest, mutually respectful relationship. She's wonderful for so many reasons but one of the best is that she knows how much I love living life and that I don't want to give up, even with Mets BC. She listens and sticks by me. She's knowledgable, compasisonate, and reactive to what I say. She's also been wonderful with my elderly parents which I appreciate so much. I know I make her laugh and she elevates my spirits also. I've been told I was going to die quite a few times and I have told Dr. Goldfarb, "Not yet. I know myself and it's not my time". She's always looking for new treatments even if we are scraping the bottom of the barrel at times. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Shari Goldfarb for being the one that has taken this journey with me. I couldn't ask for better!

Seriously, you want her on you team!

I have never had an appointment where I have waited less than an hour. I even waited for over 3 hours one time, with over half of that in the exam room. Unacceptable! I also feel like no one is monitoring my care. I never get a phone call on my labs even where there is s problem with my numbers. Overall disappointing. I have stayed with her for 4 years, but have decided to leave ... there had to be something better than this.

Dr. Goldfarb guided me through the most aggressive form of chemo for breast cancer; she was always encouraging, always keeping the eye on the prize!! Thank you, Dr. Goldfarb, for staying strong when I couldn't!!!

This doctor keeps patients waiting for hours without an explanation. Often, the doctor doesn't appear at all; a nurse examines the patient, discusses patient concerns and next steps, and then dismisses the patient with no mention of the doctor at all! During my most recent hospitalization, the admitting doctor asked me who my oncologist actually is, because a review of my medical chart showed notes from nurses but the team could find nothing in my records to indicate that I have an oncologist at MSK. I find this troubling, to put it mildly.

I could not comment on the wait time because it only gives you a choice of up to 20 minutes. I arrived at her office at 5:15, was called at 6:15, got into a patient gown & they made me wait until I came out the door at 6:40 to ask whether she was coming to see me. She made me wait for one hour from my appt time of 5:40 until 6:40 only to have a NP see me instead & not a peek from her & they were not even busy! This is not the first time she did this to me. On my initial visit she made me & my husband wait for 2 hours, then the next visit same thing. I’m surprised she still has a job at MSK , she is the most insensitive doctor i’ve ever encountered!

Shari Goldfarb is the absolute worst doctor I have ever met. Her bedside manner was despicable I think she should choose another occupation. Perhaps one in which she did not have to interact with human beings or animals.

Excellent oncologist with first-rate communication skills.

Dr Goldfarb tried to be nice but repeated that same phrase over and over (this is not your worst cancer) and had a script she insisted on going through. She was distracted when asked questions and spoke to me while her head was down taking notes. I asked why she was taking notes when SHE was speaking and she said they were for me. I asked her to stop (which she did) and look up at me. She is a very inexperienced doctor who is focused more on what she says and does than what the patient needs or wants. She spent time with me but did not pay attention to me as she was so focused on her script. The 90 minute appointment took over three hours due to extreme waiting times in between changing rooms. It was not a good experience.
