Dr. Sharon P Balcells, MD

I was looking through my VA patient notes and come across a H&P Dr Barcell wrote on me during a visit in 2013. She wrote in the note supposed quotes of me demanding drugs which sounded like I was a violent drug seeker. I was so shocked. She said I refused all care. Yes I probably did refuse what she offered I just had 2 cervical spine diskectomies 3.5 years apart, fibromyalgia and lupus. I had already tried what she offered, physical therapy, walking, and pain management which only gives injections in cervical spine. No one is going to do an injection in my cervical spine and possibly hit my spinal cord. I’ve had 3 epidural spinal injections in my lumbar spine and they only last a little while. Furthermore I don’t talk to anyone the way she wrote in that note and it is in my permanent VA record. It is a shame a physician can do this to a patient. She even mentioned I didn’t meet the criteria for a 48 hr hold. I’m very upset that someone would slander me like this. Just be careful.

She seemed to have a predetermined diagnosis before she even met me. She seemed somewhat condescending. She did not seem to care to hear about my symptoms and I felt as if I were being rushed. I would begin to explain my symptoms and she would interupt with her immediate predetermined diagnosis and try to change the subject. Do not go to this Doctor if you can help it!

Dr Balcells is my VA Doctor and I could not want for more. Just a caring professional physician.

I met with Dr Balcells about 2 hours ago. I stumbled upon this web site while looking up information to update my address book. I looked through the reviews here and it find hard to imagine the Dr I just met would behave in a way to merit such negative comments. I am 66 and have seen a lot of Drs in military and civilian life. Dr Balcells is extremely competent and thorough professionally. She was very polite and personable. I came away with the impression that she genuinely likes her patients (veterans) and is focused on doing what she can to help to help them. It seems that someone had a bad/frustrating time with Dr Balcells for which I am very sorry. I would urge them to revisit Dr Balcells to see if your impression might change.

Exceptional Doctor/Patient attention!!!

This doctor does not listen, she's very rude and harsh, her staff is also very rude and harsh. Balcells does not care about patients needs and only want to hear her voice not patients symptoms or concerns.

Dr. Balcells was very friendly , helpful, very informative and took the time to explain everything. I felt very comfortable and will continue to go back. I wish there was more Doctors like her who really cared..Thank you very much Dr. Balcells. God Bless You. ,

I have had doctors who did not care in the past and I must say VA has tried to "make good" when issues have arrived . Dr. Balcells is great, I have seen her for a bout a year and she is so nice and helpful. She is very knowledgeable and takes the time to make sure you understand what is going on.

Shes a rude dr ever, disrespectful,she dont want to help, she dont go what is in my medical file.....I dont recommend this dr to anybody

I felt a great connection with Dr Balcells from my first appointment. Working at Scott & White, she has access to all of my history, and she took the time to be informed of my history before she met me. Dr Balcells and her courteous staff worked with me when I was out of town, on several occasions, to help me know what to do to relieve symptoms. She showed appreciation for me arriving at my appointment with a List to discuss. She is also willing to work with me on prescriptions to find the better price. I certainly appreciate Dr Balcells and recommend her!!
