Dr. Shaun Stewart Shafer, MD

Dr. Shafer told me I had a cataract in one eye and that it was just a matter of time before it affected my vision. He drew me a picture of the cataract and explained how cloudiness would spread across my lens and reduce my vision. He said sometimes it is necessary to remove a cataract even when it does not affect vision. He said the choice (to have him perform cataract surgery) would be for me to make sometime in the future. I moved to another state and a doctor there examined my eyes and reported nothing about cataracts. I then showed him Dr. Shafer's. drawing & examination report and asked if he was certain he hadn't missed something. He said he had looked very carefully and assured me I had no indication of cataracts AT ALL and that I was welcome to get another opinion. I did just that and was told by the third ophthalmologist that there was absolutely no sign of cataracts in either of my eyes.
