Dr. Sheila Gay Garvey, MD

I don't really care if my doctor is warm and fuzzy, and I don't want my "mommy," but I do care that I get appropriate recommendations. Dr. Garvey flat out gave me wrong information, and had I trusted her, I would have had an unnecessary surgery. To add insult to injury, her office called to reschedule my follow up visit for weeks later. That was not very comforting when you have cancer. Bottom line: you need to be able to trust your surgeon, and Dr. Garvey showed poor medical judgement in my case. Going through cancer is hard enough, and you shouldn't have to worry if your surgeon is giving you proper advice. Don't put yourself through that.

Dr. Garvey is an excellent doctor. I was taken to ER with horrible abdominal pain. After indepth examination she said the only option was surgery. I'd never had surgery & was very concerned. It was very successful thanks to Dr. Garvey. Those who write negative comments are full of you know what. They didn't want a real surgeon they just wanted their "mommy" & something to gripe about. You can't fix stupid.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to her with a new diagnosis of cancer, and she told me that I needed much more aggressive surgery and treatments than necessary. I told her that I was having a hard time wrapping my head around all of that, and all she did was stare at me with an annoyed look on her face. She did absolutely nothing to try and ease my mind. Thankfully, I didn't trust her opinion, and it ended up being completely incorrect. I went elsewhere, had only the procedures I needed, and am doing very well. I will say that her staff was very kind and helpful.

Wonderful doctor! Dr. Garvery has taken great care of my husband after another surgeon choose to ignore the life threatening issues he had. Dr. Garvey basically saved my husbands life. She spent a lot of time discussing issues and answering all of our questions. My husband spent several days in the hospital (including ICU) and she came by several times to check on in. She never made us feel like she didn't have the time for us. We highly recommend Dr. Garvey.

Worst doctor I have ever been too. She is not sympathetic what so ever. My fiance got in a car accident and shiela Garvey was his physician. She did not realize my fiances leg was broken after two days of being in intensive care, while also having a wrap on his broken leg that was squeezing it to avoid blood clots! It has been a month and a half since the accident and we went back for a CT scan on his liver (he had a level 4 laceration on his liver) we have still not heard the results of the scan and have called her many times it has been a week. We also went to a different doctor to have a check up on his leg and ankle, shiela Garvey seemed to have missed a large gap between he ankle.bone and foot bone, which now has to be operated on and the heeling time is 3 months. Shiela Garvey had My finance wearing a boot after the accident which actually made the gap between his foot and ankle worse. Horrible doctor and person.
