Dr. Sidney J Steinberger, MD

I visited Dr. Steinberger for a peritonsillar abscess. He did not show concern for my medical history, and pushed on my neck during the preliminary examination so hard that he ruptured the abscess. When I was in pain and frustrated by his incompetence in the examination, he called me "out of control". He then lied to my primary care doctor about what occurred during the visit. Do NOT visit him. He does not care for his patients physically or emotionally.

My experience with Dr.Steinberger today was mixed! Overall positive, with a few hiccups. I did experience the cumbersome wait time (30+ minutes) once in the exam room. The worst part about the wait was extensively looking at all of the tools that could potentially be used on you! It made me a little anxious. The nurse was cordial and made small talk with me. Once the doctor finally arrived he seemed pretty confident in what he was doing, which was great! The only problem is he didn't really fill me in on what he was doing, as he did it. So it was one step after the other, and it got a little overwhelming. Before I knew it I had cotton stuck in both nostrils, and was laying down getting my ears cleaned, (with tears running down my face from the overwhelming aspect of it all. ) When the nurse saw my tears, she did all she could to help. All she had to do was explain what was going on during each part of the process, and I was fine. So where the doctor lacked in his personality, his… nurse picked up the slack! Overall nothing, not even the scope stuck up my nose, was painful. Which is all I can ask for in a doctor ! (: Their scheduler was very patient with me in scheduling my X-rays, and the office staff was always friendly. I will return to this doctor when needed, as I am confident in his skills.
