Dr. Silpa Katta, MD

This Dr. doesn’t belong in any industry that requires “care.” Her demeanor is beyond bad bedside manner- she is very likely to be physically and emotionally damaging for someone in Chronic Pain and likely depressed. Shame on Northwestern/MarianJoy for continuing to employ this Dr. after numerous complaints. All of which have a similar theme- she and the hospital are responsible for any and all damage she causes patients. Hopefully, this truthful review will be the last of her career.

If you have chronic pain, please do not see this person. She doesn’t care, she will be sure to demean you and make you feel hopeless by the end of your visit. I’m sorry to anyone that was hurt by her, there are more compassionate doctors out there.

She has a very poor bedside manner. Maybe she doesn't like older people. I am in my 50's and she was very dismissive with me. I saw her twice and it was a waste of time and money. She has an air of superiority about her. I now have someone else who cares about patients.

Worst rehab doctor. Very angry individual. Very poor bedside manner. Does not listen to patient. Very confusing statements. We Do NOT recommend her to anyone.

Horrible bedside manner. Worst I have ever seen. Rude, cold, uncaring, belittling, angry person. Not knowledgable. Terrible experience.

NOT recommended. Angry, mean individual. Demeaning, belittling patient. Will not let you talk and displays bursts of anger if you are slow to understand what she is trying to communicate. Not knowledgeable.

Marion Joy is a wonderful practice, however Dr. Katta is by far the worst doctor I have used for treating my reflex sympathetic dystrophy. She has a lack of experience and knowledge (including her willingness to learn about my disorder). Top that off with her terrible bedside manner and unwillingness to listen, she was / is the worst doctor I have ever worked with in the last 10 years.

Dr. Katta is warm from her introduction until her handshake goodbye. After three months of pain that puzzled neurosurgeons,orthopedists and my primary doctor following a fall, she was a LIFESAVER! I don't have a medical degree, I want things explained to me in terms I understand and she is wonderful at doing just that and working with you to find the best individual course of treatment. All I had heard from the other doctors was that they didn't know why my foot was paralyzed. Dr. Katta did a 45 minute exam while asking me a lot of questions I hadn't heard from any of the other doctors. As it turns out, I am NOT crazy! I was suffering from lumbar radiculopathy and neuropathy. I smashed my L5-S1 and it affected my nerves greatly, the way she explained it to me (paraphrased): Imagine you have a big block, and you have 100 ropes to lift it. When you fell, 95 of those ropes were significantly damaged and have to learn how to work all over again. She worked with me and listened, rather… than brushing off my concerns. I am 29, I want to be better! She helped me figure out how I can help myself as well. She doesn't just "pump you full of medication" as some have said. She prescribes you medication so your body can work and heal as fast as possible. She is honest and really takes her time with every appointment and for once in my life I don't leave her office with unanswered questions like I have with most doctors. I highly recommend her to anyone who is suffering from pain of any kind.

Dr. Katta spent some time asking me questions about my conditions. However, I am still trying to figure out if she was even listing . What did she do with that info I shared with her???? I have United Health Care PPO and I THANK GOD for it everyday. I took it upon myself to visit a Neurosurgeon who, in the fist visit understood my pain and found the root cause of my pain. Dr. Katta spent various visits giving me narcotics and not treating the real condition. ???? Why would she give me so many narcotics and not use her "medical knowledge" to treat and diagnose or at least refer me to someone who could help me out??? Today, I am recovering from a successful surgery and I DO NOT recommend ANYONE to visit a Dr. Katta. She might look sweet but she sure hides her lack of medical knowledge and care for patients behind her smile.I encourage everyone to learn from my experience and look out for for you. If you don't do it .... trust me she would not do it either.Good Luck!
