Dr. Silvia Hafliger

it's ironic for a mental health provider to be this rude, dismissive, and dehumanizing. because she shuffles between being semi-nice and then making accusations and yelling at you, it perfectly fits abuse, because you start to trust her, and then she cuts you down, and then you're grateful that she's nice again, and then she cuts you down. she's the opposite of what mental health patients need!

From personal experience I can attest to Dr. Hafliger's commitment to the patient and the patients families/caregivers. She uses her skills to help them during the difficult period before liver transplant and then after liver transplant.

I am so happy I came across this site. My husband was a patient of the NYP transplant program. The whole experience from start to his death in 2010 was a nightmare from the office to the physician, Robert Brown to Dr. Hafliger. She is a unprofessional, rude, unsympathetic, down right disgusting human being. I was appalled as my husband was dying from liver failure and his stomach was filled with ascites,being evaluated for a 2nd transplant that she told him he had changed dramatically since she saw him last he was not the same mentally. She was so cold and callus but my favorite was when she advised him to go home and make some calorie filled smoothies to drink while he waited for treatment. The whole program at that place was disgusting. 3 years after my husbands death I still have nightmares over her.

One of Silvia Hafliger colleges started me off on treatment for Hep C with a psych drug that I had a bad reaction to. I was told to contact Silvia and she yelled at me for taking the drug. Saying that I should know better since I worked in healthcare. She disregarded that I was a patient following doctor's orders. She then proceed to place me on a different psych drug that put me into drug withdrawal. It even stated on the label that it should not be used by people with liver problems. She accused me of taking recreational drugs which was not true. She should not be treating patients.

My care at NY Colombia/Presbyterian was cut short as a result of Dr.Hafliger's impulsiveness and quickness to jump to judgement. On a few different occasions, Dr. H would explode on other health care professionals and had no tact. Despite consistently passing urine screens on a daily basis, the Dr. was relentless. She would accuse me of not providing samples in the presence of other health care workers who witnessed and performed the daily testing. She erroneously labeled and treated me as an addict. I have since been to another facility, tested and diagnosed with NO reference to abuse of alcohol or drugs, which is accurate. My health has been stable since leaving NYColumbia/Presbyterian. Getting a second opinion was the best step I could have taken. I had allowed Dr. Hafliger to put me through a rigamarole of expensive tests, travel, and unnecessary scrutiny. Dr. Hafliger does not belong in healthcare unless it is in an isolated lab away from the public.

your hospital gave me a brand new liver. i had b een sick for 8 years and i didnt think ild get one. on a snowy evening my brother came from lincroft nj to bring me uptown to the hospital.i was very enccephalopathy. and was met by your doctors and surgeons. a liver was waiting for me. when i awoke all my problems were gone. its been 1 year and im feeling quite healthy and thankful so much to all of you and the columbia staff.
