Dr. Stanley Joel Knep, MD

After learning that Dr. Knep was retiring, I immediately felt a loss. He has been my neurologist for over 30 years. Having narcolepsy, Dr. Knep offered both treatment and education regarding my condition. He was caring and supportive. A fellow neurologist described him as "old World", "one of a kind". I have been fortunate to have been one of his patients.

The receptionists at the Neurology Group of North Jersey are most unprofessional people I have ever spoke to. When you call to make an appointment they act as if you are interrupting them and are extremely rude. One woman in particular speaks over me every time I call to fill a prescription. She doesn't give you a chance to speak and when you try to ask questions she interrupts you by raising her voice in frustration. Not only is she rude, when you finally can get a word in to ask a question immediately after she answers she hangs up the phone. I don't understand how she still has her job because she has the worst manners EVER. Its unfortunate the reputation of the doctors in that office are severely damaged by their receptionistâ??s attitudes. I have been a patient of this office for about 4 years and refuse to put up with their inconsiderate obnoxious attitudes anymore. I have recently changed doctors and will not be referring anyone to this office.

Dr. Knep was recommended to me by my rheumatologist. I have lupus and have had multiple grande mal seizures and basilar migraines. He spent an enormous amount of time with me over several visits; always looked me in the eye and asked me appropriate questions about my illness. He gave me the pain medication I needed and ordered the necessary follow-up EMR and MRI diagnostics. I will continue to see him annually and would highly recommend him. In fact, when changing insurance companies, I went out of my way to make sure he still accepted my new plan (he does). Due to my illness, I have seen many doctors for multiple conditions, and honestly, trust very few. I implicitly trust Dr. Knep. It is disappointing that some reviewers wrote such critical words for him based on not getting pain meds and being charged for consecutive missed appointments. Perhaps a neurologist is not the proper physician for either of you.

Dr Knep did not even prescribe anything or do any further testa. I got the impression that he just doesn't want to be bothered with chronic pain patients, either because they are hard to treat or he is afraid of a DEA investigation if he prescribes a strong pain drug.

The people working in this office are braindead. I missed two appointments because of emergencies that arose and on my way to my third appointment, I go to the wrong address since their website is inaccurate. I then deal with the almighty powerful receptionist who attempts to put me in my place. Dr Kneff could be an amazing doctor but I'll never know because his obnoxious secretaries never allowed me to actually see him.

Dr. Knep was one of the few (perhaps only) local neurologist willing to prescribe for me off-label Naltrexone for my MS. He has an incredibly kind beside manner. He was the third neurologist to treat me since my diagnosis, but I've been going to him for years now. My MS luckily has been fine. His staff knows me by name, and as a regular patient I never have problems getting an appointment, especially when I did have pain. As far as the reviewer who, I suspect was a no-show for an appointment, I agree that offices have the right to charge for missed appointments. That was a spot that another patient could've had. The practice is very busy, and I suspect too many people abused common courtesy, so now they charge for missed appointments I guess.

Dr Knep did not help me at all in addressing my problem of chronic pain. In fact, he did not even try any treatments. I suspect that he is one of those doctors who nowadays are afraid of prescribing pain medication because they might be investigated by the DEA (as many have been).

Dr. Knep gave no help with my problem of chronic pain. He didn't even try any medication. He seems like one of those really conservative doctors who don't take action unless your condition is life-thtreatening.
